Hey now.  I'm Dwight.
I'm Dwight.  This site is my project.  I work on it when i'm not out working.  I guess i decided to create it because i realized that as the trianlgle area grows, so does our scene.
The local scene is growing, yet it is noticeably lacking in several areas.  One of these being the "everybody just fuck off- you're not punk enough, but i'm punk as fuck" attitude that many of the 'hardcore kids have.  it's intimidating to some, annoying to most, and causes a greater schism within our subculture.  We have enough problems, and many kids resort to 'the scene' as a means of escape from society's ridicule, and yet are greeted with even more because they don't wear pins and patches as a justification of their hardcore status.  It really does seem now that at many shows or wherever there are punks, if you don't have a leather jacket covered with patches and buttons and safety pins, you aren't worth knowing.  if you don't have a hard-luck story to tell about getting kicked out of your house, or beaten up by cops, or getting drunk and getting slashed, then you're just some wannabe poser kid.  to those of you who think that punk is simply a way to dress and a style of music:  YOU'RE DEAD WRONG.  Punk is about rebellion  and struggle.  it's about unity and acceptance.  Everyone has something to contribute, no matter what they look like.  It's a shame we can't wear our thoughts the same way we wear our pins and patches.  If we could, we'd see who the label PUNK truly applies to.
yeah, i drink and toke and like to have a good time.  But there are many things more important than listening music and smoking pot, and getting piss drunk.  There are a ton of causes that need direct action.  I participate in Food Not Bombs and Anti-Racist Action.  At FNB, we prepare food for the local underclass who cannot afford to feed themselves.  At ARA, we try to fight racist, sexist, and homophobic ideas, as well as any other DISCRIMINANT views.  Punk music isn't written, performed, and played because it's pleasant to listen to.  If you really listen, you'll hear that it's about action.
If physically taking action isn't your particular forte, there are several letter-writing campaigns that desparately need YOUR attention.  one of which is the Free Mumia Abu-Jamal Movement.  Another is the Free Leonard Peltier Movement.  Both of these men are political prisoners who have been incarcerated unjustly.    There are many others that need YOUR attention.  Find one, Create one that you believe in, and work towards it.
My musical taste is based in crusty and grindcore stuff, including The DYSTOPIA, LOGICAL NONSENSE, NOOTHGRUSH, ABC DIABLO, AMEBIX, MAN IS THE BASTARD, and such.  There's also The PIST, GNOB, ECONOCHRIST, NAUSEA, DISRUPT, INFEST, SPITBOY, INFLCTED SPOON, LOS CRUDOS, REGURGISTATE, LMNOP, AT THE GATES, BLACK SABBATH, and others still.  I like a lot of death metal too, but I won't forget my humble hippie roots:  i must pay homage to the GRATEFUL DEAD, and give respect where much respect is due.

contact me if you'd like to get anything (show and tour dates and info, your pictures and quotes, artwork, distro info, page links, contact info, etc...) published here.
