The size and beauty of TARRAGONA, a splendid millenary city, means that it presides over the whole zone of the Costa Daurada. From the "Balcó del Mediterrani" (the Balcony of the Mediterranean)on the Rambla Nova, one of the city's most magnificent beaches can be seen, its golden sand bathed by an ever blue sea. Its location gives it mild and sunny winters. The brightness of the Mediterranean remains all the year round. Tarragone was the point of departure for Romanization and Christianization of the Iberian Peninsula, and today, splendid and beautiful, it offers a unique collection of Romanesque and Medieval monuments. The past emerges to meet visitors, even if they do not seek it out, for the whole city is history and monuments
