Powers: Cecilia has the power to generate a powerful forcefield
from within inches from her body. Although nothing can penetrate the field, she can feel
through the field as if it was her own skin. Also, in her time as an X-Man, she started to
develop her powers, giving her more control and the ability to manipulate the field.
Origin: Cecilia's life dream was to become a doctor. As a child,
she had held her father's dying body in her arms and knew someday, she would save people
like him. She worked her way through college and grad school and finally her dream can
true. She became a doctor in the emergency room at a hospital in New York. However,
Cecilia knew was a mutant, but she hid that fact from the people around her. One day, she
was approached by Charles Xavier, the founder of the X-Men. She turned down his offer to
become an X-Man.
History: Cecilia's life was soon changed forever. A man had been
brought into her emergency room, the victim of several gunshot wounds to his chest.
Cecilia and her team worked hard to save the man, but it was simply to late. The doctor
pronounced her patient dead. As she and the others walked out of the room, the man
mysterious lifted himself off the ER bed, and his eyes began to glow red. He was a Prime
Sentinel, a human outfitted by Bastion to destroy mutants. He attacked Cecilia and her
co-workers with relentless fury, sending Cecilia herself through a wall. Only her mutant
power had saved her life.
Cecilia began to run, when the room was covered in ice. Then, a man appeared and destroyed
the robot that was no longer human. The pair then escaped into the sewers below. There,
the man introduced himself as Iceman, one of the X-Men. He told that he was designated to
protect her, in case Xavier's files were ever compromised. She was afraid, sore, and in
shock, but she followed Iceman through the night.
Aided by the former terrorist Marrow and the super-spy Sabra, Cecilia and Iceman defeated
the evil Bastion. Cecilia returned with Iceman to the Xavier Mansion, the home of the
X-Men, only to find that Bastion had stripped it clean. However, another group of X-Men
arrived, among them Cyclops, within whom Bastion had implanted a bomb. With Dr. Reyes
help, the X-Men saved Cyclops's life. By doing, Cyclops offered her a place among the
X-Men. She refused.
The following week, Cecilia tried to return to her job, hoping her dream was still alive.
She found the others to scared of her, knowing that she was a mutant. She remained
steadfast, but she would soon learn the pain of being a mutant. Pyro, a former member of
the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, had been brought in with gunshots. The other doctors sent
for Cecilia. She saved his life, with the help of her powers. Later that night, Daredevil,
a masked vigilante, appeared, asking for her help. She treated him as well, proving to him
her worth as a doctor. However, she then tried to make Pyro more comfortable to loosening
his straps. The evil mutant was freed, and the entire ordeal was Cecilia's fault. She was
fired, and with no where else to go, she returned to the X-Men.
She learned to control her powers better and helped the X-Men to defeat such menaces like
the Shadow King. However, she never felt quite at home with the X-Men, and soon left the
team to found her own clinic in near-by Salem Center. Her practice is moderately
sucessful, and Cecilia has found some peace.
However, more tough times were ahead. Cecilia would be caught up in the conflict between
the X-Men and the Neo, and Cecilia managed to save Nightcrawler's life, but she herself
was captured by the Neo in the process. Inside. she fought Jaeger to the death and won,
helped only by the addictive drug called Rave. By the drug she was sustained until the
X-Men returned to free her, but by that time, she was completely addicted to the drug.
With the help of Xavier, Cecilia slowly freed herself from the drug. During this brief
stay with the X-Men, Cecilia and the others failed in saving the life of Colossus. The
Beast had found a cure for the Legacy VIrus, but in order for it to work. someone must
sacrifice their life. The other X-Men found the price to steep, but not Colossus, whose
sister the Virus had already claimed. Cecilia could only watch in horror as Colossus
killed himself. She tried to save him, but the cure's effect was too quick, he was already
dead.
Cecilia left the X-Men once more, and her current whereabouts are unknown. Cecilia has
perhaps returned to Salem Center or to New York, once again hoping to relive her dream of
saving lives as a doctor. |
