CONVENTION WEEKEND!!!
Jon, Alan and I left Naples before 6am, driving straight
to Disney's MGM arriving at 8:45am.
Jon bought his 1st annual pass (Premium), and Alan renewed
his annual pass.
We rode the 2 times then visited MGM.
Later we went over to the EPCOT, eating lunch at Mexico.
Finally we went over to the Magic Kingdom were Jon and
I got soaked while waiting in line (with a large group of young beautiful
Brazillian women) to see Alien Encounter, which was literally a scream!
There were many groups of young Brazillian women (each group wearing different
colored shirts) at WDW all weekend. Jon later ran into the same group
at Busch Gardens next Friday!
Then we drove to the hotel arriving at about 9pm, checking
in without any problems and got a rollaway for Broderick Lyons who joined
us later that evening. Unfortunately we found out that Chase had
cancelled and was replaced by Jonathan DeArco "Hugh, the Borg".
There was a lot of activity, and the IFT needed help with their computer
display, so I got our Computer Engineer Lt. Alan Ricotta to help out.
Needless to say Alan solved their problem, and I commend him for coming
through for us and them! We ate at Fudruckers.
I attended the last of a Babylon 5 talk with Arne Starr.
Saturday was typical, we picked up our tickets.
I was very upset that the dealers had not been informed of Chases cancellation
therefore the only photos available of DeArco were sold by Joe for TWICE
the normal cost!!! I refused to buy any of his photos on principle.
I checked out the dealer's room where I found and bought
the only Xena CD available for Neil.
Jonathan DeArco, then Armin Shimmerman spoke, then both
signed autographs. I got a poster, a montage picture and an Arne
Starr drawing signed. We picked up pizzas for dinner then attended
the costume contest.
Sunday, we basically attended the Starfleet meeting then
headed back to WDW. We went to the Kingdom 1st then shifted over
to MGM, ending the weekend as we started on the Twilight Zone Tower of
Terror (it broke!)
We decided to give Starfleet a little longer to get their
stuff together, and again offered our help to help Region 2 and Starfleet
make a difference at the next convention.
