The USS STARQUEST is a Star Trek fan association on a mission to
provide Star Trek fans with a means to broaden their enjoyment of the Star
Trek universe through group relationships and activities. The STARQUEST
belongs to Starfleet, which is an International Fan Association with over
200 enterprising chapters currently in operation. The STARQUEST provides
organization for local star trek fans. Starfleet provides organization
for the fleet of starships and shuttlecraft. The STARQUEST joined Region
2 of STARFLEET in March of 1991 as a shuttlecraft and was one of the most
active ships in the fleet!
Typically, individuals find themselves extremely limited in the
manor that they can enjoy Star Trek... you can watch a new episode alone,
or with the crew of the StarQuest, enjoying each others' reactions to an
episode and discussing it afterwards if you wish. You can discuss trivia
and Trekisms a little with a friend who may listen for a while, or relate
in depth with fellow Star Trek fans discussing topics ranging from the
movies, to the theory behind warp drive. You can see a Star Trek float
in a parade on tv, or you can help design and build a float to ride on
in a parade. You can see a Star Trek movie at the theatre alone or you
can see it in uniform and greet fellow trekkers coming to see it at the
StarQuest's Starfleet table.
And of course there is much, much more. The StarQuest is striving
to be a leader in bringing quality fan clubs to the internet. You can find
our homepage at:
http://www.geocities.com/area51/6490
the uss StarQuest has participated in the "bread of life" which
gives food to the children of Immokalee and donations to the Southern Poverty
Law Center who combat racism and crimes of violence through direct court
action.
the StarQuest is also a neat place for parents and children to
broaden their horizens by participating together as equals in projects
such as comedy plays, taking Starfleet academy courses and being part of
the group! The StarQuest has even had children who outranked their parents!
You can call Captain Jeff Handshaw at 455- 6455 anytime if you
need info or just want to talk trek.
The U.S.S.
StarQuest is looking for a few good leaders to take the fan club into the
21st Century!
The U.S.S. StarQuest
was the most powerful ship in Starfleet's Region 2 from 1992-1994.
Recently taken out
of dry dock, the U.S.S. StarQuest needs a few goods leaders to "get her
off the ground", and a new crew to fly with her. Are you qualified?

OUR LAST FLYER
Join the U.S.S. StarQuest, Southwest Florida's only Science Fiction
Fan Club. The U.S.S. StarQuest was established in Naples in 1990
and civilian membership has always been FREE! The U.S.S. StarQuest
is affiliated with the non-profit corporation (in NC), STARFLEET -
The International STAR TREK Fan Association, Inc. STARFLEET which
is the oldest (since 1974, 23+ years old!) and largest (over 4000 members)
Star Trek fan organization in the world. Membership in STARFLEET
is not required to be part of the U.S.S. StarQuest.
The U.S.S. StarQuest is a science fiction fan association on
a mission to provide science fiction fans with a means to broaden their
life through group relationships and activities with people with similar
interests. Star Trek merely provides the organization to build the group
around. STARFLEET provides organization for its fleet of Starships and
Shuttlecraft to work within and together. The U.S.S. StarQuest acts as
a galactic space port for Science Fiction fans in Southwest Florida to
gather and unite. Each entity is free to form their own identity and command
structure with the U.S.S. StarQuest acting as the connecting link back
to the main organization, STARFLEET. Diversity, yet together as one!
Group activities include: weekly meetings (a good excuse to regularly
get together with friends who share common interests), local promotions
(at the movies, on the radio, on TV, in parades), group vacations (at Walt
Disney World and Busch Gardens), conventions (conventions in 1997 include
July 18-20 in Orlando with Mira Furlan and Chase Masterson, and Oct 31-Nov
2 in St. Pete), cruises with the stars, and all the things that friends
do together. We have written, produced and performed skits and plays
for kids and conventions.
The StarQuest fosters family values and fellowship and denounces
hatred against others. The StarQuest is an ideal place for parents and
their children to broaden their relationship by participating together
as equals in group activities. The StarQuest has even had children who
outranked their parents! The StarQuest, like most fellowships, provides
members with a valuable source of support of various types, from the healthy
exchange of talent and experience, to just a shoulder to cry on, friends
are wonderful things to have!
As a group, the StarQuest is in a position to perform valuable
community services. In the past we have contributed to the "Bread of Life",
which gives food to the children of Immokalee and supported the Southern
Poverty Law Center who combat racism and crimes of violence through direct
court action. As we grow, our members will determine the degree and
direction of our community involvement.
In the past year we have personally met Denise Crosby (Tasha
Yar), Jerry Doyle (Babylon 5), Robert McNeill (Paris), David Prowse (Darth
Vader), June Lockhart (Lassie), Richard Hatch (Battlestar Galactica), Robert
Picardo (Holographic Dr.), Patricia Tallman, Kenny Baker (R2-D2), and John
DeLancie (Q). In the last 7 years we have met almost EVERY Star Trek
star, many other Sci-fi stars, writers, and technical artists.
