Rambutan Fruit
Rambutan is native to Malaysia but can be grown in most places in the Philippines including San Pablo City Laguna. SPC is suitable for those seeking opportunities in agriculture as exemplified by the barangays planted with coconut, vegetables, and fruit trees like Lanzones and Rambutan. Harvesting time of rambutan is from July to September, and this 2012 almost 1,281.57 metric tons of rambutan was produced by San Pablo, making it as one of the industry of the city.
Rambutan Festival
For the past 5 years residents and tourists in San Pablo City have been feasting on the rambutan which grows abundantly in that part of Laguna from July to September. The tradition continues this year as the city seeks to promote the fruit and tourism. For P150, people can pick and eat all the rambutans they can straight from trees at some resorts in the city.
Many consider rambutan as a filipino style lychees and the city is considering it to promote agritourism in San Pablo through this kind of products.
