Visual Basic Resources

The following links are resources for teaching and programming in Visual Basic. Many of the resources are highly technical, so this page is not recommended for students.

About Visual Basic

http://visualbasic.about.com/

The site is a little cluttered, but there are many resources and lessons on the website.  All the major styles of programming in Visual Basic are covered here and there are screenshots to help identify what is being covered in the lesson.  Some less advanced users may get lost in this website.

vbCity.com Developer Community

http://www.vbcity.com/

A very thorough website that includes source code, How to, and humour.  There is even a forum for posting requests and a function to search the website.

Visual Basic - Wikipedia, the free encyclopaedia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visual_Basic

This website has some information on programming, but much of what is covered can be found elsewhere.  What is very significant here is the background and general information that can be accessed and used when teaching or for reference.  There are also links to other sources of information and help.

Visual Basic Code at vbcode.com

http://www.vbcode.com/

Another website for developers, where you can search, submit and swap code.  The website is easy to navigate and has related technical articles.

Visual Basic Developer Center

http://msdn.microsoft.com/vbasic/

Microsoft own Visual Basic, so it is expected that they contain the most up-to-date and cutting-edge articles related to Visual Basic.  The site is a little difficult to navigate and is aimed at the power-users.

Lesson Plans Visual Basic

http://www.usoe.k12.ut.us/ate/it/download/Programming/VBFirstDay.doc

A lesson plan for teacing an introduction lesson to visual Basic.

Teachers Intouch Portal - Intouch Onsite

http://www.teachersintouch.net/lesson/onsite.asp

A website that has a collection of lesson plans suitable for teaching P-12.  Unfortunately the majority of the lesson plans are on a member-only basis.

Information Systems - Past Exams, Sample Exams & Assessment Reports

http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/vce/studies/infotech/infosystems/exams.html

Past exams that are useful for revision and practice.
