A new Series On Quebec

I was born here nearly 74 years ago and NO, I am not a sepratist. It is a very interesting province, inspite of all that is going on here now, has a GREAT history. Take the time to to look through it. I am sure that will enjoy the history.

Province (1991 pop. 6,895,963), 594,855 sq mi (1,540,680 sq km), E Canada, bounded by Hudson Strait (N), Labrador and the Gulf of St. Lawrence (E), New Brunswick and the U.S (S), Hudson Bay and Ontario (W). Quebec is the largest and second most populous of the provinces. It is the center of French Canadian culture, French-speaking people making up c.80% of the population. The chief cities include MONTREAL, the largest city; QUEBEC city, the capital; LAVAL; and TROIS RIVI�RES The CANADIAN SHIELD covers the northern nine tenths of the province. To the south lies the great SAINT LAWRENCE R., along whose banks are the lowlands that are the centers of agriculture and industry. In the southeast, south of the St. Lawrence, are the APPALACHIAN Highlands and the GASP� PENINSULA. The forests of the north yield valuable timber, and throughout the north copper, iron, zinc, silver, and gold are mined. Asbestos is found in the Appalachian Highlands. The rivers have been extensively developed for hydroelectric power. The small farms of the lowlands produce dairy products, sugar beets, and tobacco. Quebec's main manufactures are refined petroleum, food products, motor vehicles, clothing, furniture, iron and steel, chemicals, and metal and paper products.
