Because Creatures is a simulation of life, the aspect of food is as realistic here as it is in reality. It's important for Norns (just like us) to have a balanced diet so that they can live a long and healthy life style. Norns that indulge in too many sweets and fats can end up having heart failure, just like humans. Once Norns learn to talk, they will be able to tell you what kind of food they need to keep their diet balanced. Therefore, it's important to learn about the three main food groups in Creatures 3.
3 Main Groups:
Seeds: contains starch/fat

Fruit: contains protein/starch

Food: contains fat/protein
There are lots of different food items for Norns to eat in C3. If you're having a hard time seeing what food item belongs in what group, click on the "Agent Help Hand" button up by the picture of your Norn's head in the menu area. Then, click on the piece of food. It will tell you what group it belongs to.
Food Tips:

Protein - is needed for pregnant Norn mothers. Isolate pregant Norn mothers and feed them plenty of food before and after giving birth.
Fat - can cause too much adipose tissue to build up, which leads to heart disease.
Starch - If a Norn gets low in Glycogen, they will lay down and groan, which is your signal to isolate them, and give them a food feed.
There are many different types of food in Creatures 3! Just make sure your Norns eat all the different kinds!
Norns need a steady diet of all three food groups, not just Fruit and Seeds. Even though too much fat can be dangerous, too little can hurt just as much.
Norns store their food energy in three different ways:

Starch is stored as Glycogen

Fruit is stored as Muscle Tissue

Food is stored as Adipose Tissue

Norns who have a solid balance of all three types of stored energy are well-fed Norns.
Here is my messy food chart I made by using paint. As you can see, each food group helps make the entire diet balanced.
Remember, your Norns will tell you if they're lacking in a certain type of food. If you provide the right kind of food, they'll eat it themselves, saving you a lot of heartache. When you think you've gotten the three main types down, we'll move onto something a bit more scary: Grendels and Starvation
