coat of arms
This Web site is devoted to helping Yarnold, Yarnall & Yarnell researchers throughout the world track down their family lines. The ancestral home of this name is in Worcestershire, England. Early settlements in the Anglo-Saxon colonies were in Pennsylvania, USA; Ontario, Canada; and Tasmania, Australia. There are good researchers who have spent many years gathering family data. We are making raw information available ON-LINE, to help other researchers of this surname connect their family lines. There are THOUSANDS of entries here, all of them referenced to a source. But the work to gather and digitize surname data is nowhere near complete. The basic purposes of this web site are to make connections to this family name and to provide DOCUMENTATION for research. If you HAVE documentation on events concerning someone with this surname, please consider contributing the source information to this web site. And if you find something useful here, please, let us know! We'd be glad to hear from you!

In 1970 a lengthy but partial genealogy of the name Yarnall - Yarnell in North America was published by Harry H. & Ruth (Brookman) Yarnell. That book has been out of print, but is now available once again.

About the "Yarnall Coat of Arms" shown on this page.

We have gathered loads of documentation to help researchers. There are many birth, death & wedding records here, and quite a few military records and wills. All those are organized alphabetically, by first name. So, for example, if you want to see if your ancestor served in the British Armed Forces or in the U.S. Civil War, click on "Military" and look for his first name.

We have also gathered lots of census information. All available U.S. states from 1790 through 1860 census have been examined and entries for Yarnall/Yarnell, etc. posted at "Census Records". Most states for 1870, and many states for 1880 through 1920 census have also had the same treatment. So, for example, if you're trying to find someone in Pennsylvania, click on "census", go to the year of the census in which you are interested, click on it, then find "Pennsylvania." Easily go to the area in which you are interested by clicking on a link below.

The DESCENDANCY REPORT includes data on the siblings, parents and grandparents of the two Quaker brothers, Francis and Philip Yarnall, who immigrated from Worcestershire, England, to the new Quaker colony of Pennsylvania in 1683. We have also gathered information on thousands of their Yarnall and Yarnell descendants. And the descendancy report, which is in the form of a family tree, has information on several U.K. branches, too.
