Kurei

Kurei is your typical bad guy. He has a definite disliking to Recca. Mori Kouran is his adopted father. Spoilers begin here. Kurei is Recca's older half-brother. He was the one who scarred Recca in an attempt to kill Recca when he was just an infant. As tradition has it, there can only be one flame masters per generation. Cases like Kurei and Recca both being flame masters has happened before. But it's only because the older one is not the true flame master. Because Recca had caused so much pain and suffering to both Kurei and his mother, Reina, Kurei disliked Recca from the beginning. He even tried to kill Recca one night. That was when the scar came about on Recca's cheek. When Kagero sent Recca to the future using time-manipulation, Kurei had also managed to get suck into the time portal. Therefore, arriving in the future along with Recca. Now, Kurenai is Kurei's flame, as we all know. But, Kurenai used to be Kurei's koibito before Mori Kouran killed her. Kurei turned her into his flame. Kurenai later became the Hoh Oh, also known as Phoenix, the Holy Flame. Resshin, the leader of the 8 Karyuus said (I think he was the one who said it ~_~) that the Elders wasn't afraid of Kurei because of his evil flame, but of his potential. The Elders didn't know that Kurei's "evil flame" was actually the Holy Flame, Hoh Oh. Toward the end, Resshin and Koku both said that maybe Kurei and Recca are both true flame masters.
