One competition challenges mortality to an extent that shocks and bewilders man to this very day. A sport so violent that the players thrive on something as primitive as survival rather then competition itself. With their lives to lose and their lives to gain, these fearless men go day in day out wondering what sick, merciless, morally corrupted, violent task they must fulfill in order to survive until the next game. Long ago it has been deceivingly named Rugby. This sport was composed of what was once just the many thoughts and ideas of four men. These men are Ben Friberg, Krysztof Szal, Ryan Walsh, and myself Nick Mitchell. Rugby started with a kick from Ben who was owner of our arena at the time to me who volunteered to be the first victim of Rugby. What happened as we played more and more competitively was we began to name and memorize certain takedowns and tackles used on whom had the ball. There began to be more and more takedowns and competition became fierce. Soon it was a sport of sadistic strategy and became very popular and a large group of people met at the Forums football field although what they thought would be Rugby did not resemble Rugby in anyway. Yet it was there where we recruited Lucas to the Rugbycrew who was and will be again, one of Rugby's most valuable players. Later came others who occasionally played such as Taylor, Joe, Dan, Bobby, Egg, and Kenny. Rugby was in true glory through 8th grade, yet began to slowly die soon after. Krysztof was actually banned through some games for being "uncontrollable" and not much later Ben turned from Rugby almost completely after the summer before Freshmen year. During Freshmen year Rugby started occurring at my yard more and more if none of our combined efforts could lure Ben out of his home. Despite the vast amount of dog shit in my yard we tried to play through it and had fun. After the first quarter of Sophomore year Rugby came exclusively to my yard not long after the demise of my dog Thunder. In my yard Rugby reached a new high. In my yard we held many more players and the violent competition was better then ever. In my yard 3 new games were born. Stamina being one victim throughout a whole Rugby game with no ball testing his stamina by being barbarically hazed by the other players until they choose to surrender. American Rugby being a competition involving who can create a take down that is voted best for creativity, pain, and technique. It is judged by his fellow players and opponents and is performed on a victim of your choosing. Demolition being the most barbaric game consists of the same rules of Rugby yet anything is legal. You can use whatever you want to take an opponent down such as a pez dispenser, shopping cart, or a steal folding chair. Ryan has vacated from Rugby temporarily and will soon make a glorious return and Lucas will soon return home to his crew and sport. Rugby has an amazing outlook in the near future and until we reach into the future
