How will PSE help me get a job? Q. What is "Epsilon Mu"? (What's an EMu?) A. Each chapter of Pi Sigma Epsilon is has it's own unique identity. "Epsilon Mu" was the pair of letters originally give to the University of Cincinnati's chapter to differentiate us from the other chapters nationally. It's our name. It's who we are. Epsilon Mu quickly got shortened to E. Mu or EMu. Traditions are sometimes born of strange circumstances.... A.
The great thing about PSE is that it has something for everyone. Each
chapter is run like a small business--and, like business, success requires
being adept in many areas. With this in mind, we are constantly looking
for new projects to provide members with all types of experience, and we do
not limit this experience to business alone. Our flexibility enables
members to be involved in everything from public relations to promotion, and
from advertising practice to presentation skills. We offer you what you
need, whatever your major or focus may be. Q.
Besides professional experience, what else can PSE offer? A.
PSE’s focus may be on business; however, it is important to not that
the social and service aspects of our organization play an integral part in
our overall success. PSE is an
organization based on friendship. We will always be looking for new and exciting sevice
projects to help out the Cincinnati community.
And, our social outings are viewed as rewards for success—after all,
“all work, and no play…” Q.
Do I have to be a business major to be in PSE? A.
No. PSE is designed to
give all students practical business and communications experience.
The more diverse the chapter becomes, the better! Q.
When should I try to join PSE? A.
The earlier the better! Employers,
as well as current chapter members, see early involvement as a sign of
initiative. Recruitment is held
three times a year: at the beginning of Fall, Winter, and Spring quarters. Q.
What types of leadership opportunities are available in PSE? A.
Since our chapter is re-chartering, leadership positions are open.
All members are encouraged to take on leadership roles. The several projects that we do each quarter will enable many
people to become project managers. Q.
How large of a time commitment is PSE? A.
PSE is a large time commitment; however it should never interfere with
academic obligations. Your role in PSE is always self-defined. Q.
How will PSE help me get a job? A.
PSE offers professional contacts, a strong alumni base and practical
hands-on experience. These are
designed to help students gain insight into what different career paths offer
and entail. This organization
will also provide members with innumerable experiences about which to talk
with prospective employers! A.
