| Underworld (2003) Cast:Kate Beckinsale,Scott Speedman,Shane Brolly,Michael Sheen Underworld stars Beckinsale as a "death dealer" who is engaged in a battle with Lycans (Werewolves) for years however this has happened all underground until Bekinsale falls in love with a Lycan that things get complicated in this visually appealing yet awful actioner. It's extremely hard to blend horror with action, nine times out of ten it falls flat because both elements don't gel, for example End Of Days and The Minion are rather atrocious movies. Now to add to a very long list, here comes Underworld a movie so derivative of The Crow, Blade and The Terminator that it almost borders on self parody. Unfortunately Underworld has none of the factors that made those so enjoyable. Underworld falls flat to build a real atmosphere, the action is poorly staged and the pace is non-existent. I doubt Underworld will be the worst movie of the year, but it deserves to win an award for one of the most soulless and tedious actionflicks ever made. D.Len Wiseman* |
