| Legacy Of Rage (1986) Cast:Brandon Lee,Michael Wong,Bolo Yeung Lee stars as Brandon Ma, a waitor who takes the fall for his "friend" (Wong) after 8 years in prison he gets out with one thing on his mind, vengeance, Much violence ensues as Lee breezes through the movie with pistols blazing. I must admit I was none to impressed with Brandon Lee's American work, aside from The Crow and maybe Rapid Fire, Lee was a presence that generally was used not so well and because of this, his movies really stunk. However back in 1998 a movie surfaced called Legacy Of Rage, which was dubbed and released from a Hong Kong video company. I of course wanted to see it, so I did. I was quite impressed by this effort, the prison scenes of Brandon Lee getting used to prison are very well handled, indeed the cynicism of the how it happens and the not so happy ending all make this quite an interesting effort. That isn't to say its perfect, for instance there are flashbacks and a silly Jackie Chan like rescue that get in the way of the film's overall effect but typically this is a cut above most in the genre. Also the action sequence at the end is intense and bloddy, an effect that leaves more impact then what you would think. This is Brandon Lee's second best movie. Period. ..D.Ronny Yu *** |
