Rapid Fire (1992)

Cast:Brandon Lee,Powers Boothe,Nick Mancuso,Tzi Ma,Kate Hodge

Brandon Lee stars as Jake Lo, a college student who must use his martial arts skill against a mobster trying to kill more witnessing a murder the mobster, helped by a an FBI agent he finds himself a pawn in a personal war between the FBI agent and a different drug dealer.

Brandon Lee's next vehicle after his lame turn in
Showdown In Little Tokyo was this, and while an enjoyable action movie, it feels a little to bogged down by cliches to be a true classic, although Lee has a dynamic screen presence this movie doesn't fully take advantage of his full acting ability, although a way better actor then tons of other action stars in the time, he just doesn't look mean enough, he seems to much of a nice guy  but he can indeed fight and the fightscenes towards the climax provides Lee with probably his best martial artistry ever. It's just too bad the plot keeps getting in the way of the action.

The supporting cast isn't exactly a cast that would make anyone get excited over and they act their parts competently enough with only the exception of Hodge, who is pretty bad as the love interest.  Basically with a movie like
Rapid Fire you can take it or leave it, it's a definite cut above the typical genre material but like I said there are tons of better movies then this. Of course  there are few Brandon Lee movies to choose from and  if you want a taste of Lee's martial arts ability or just in the mood for good mindless fun, this is a decent entry in the martial arts genre..
