The Foreigner (2003)

Cast:Steven Seagal,Max Ryan,Anna-Louise Plowman,Sherman Augustus

Seagal plays a mercenary sent on a very dangerous mission to deliver a package to a mysterous man, however when he finds tons of goons on his trail Seagal must shoot his way out of the conspiracy.

One thing you can't accuse Seagal of in his newest lame-brained action vehicle is making noise, the actionscenes are for the most part laughably sub-standard and the movie often  has Seagal use his pistol rather then his swift akidio moves, and all of that is a bad decision on Director Oblowitz and his woeful idea to put Seagal in a movie where he hardly uses his akidio, since when has anyone ever watched a Seagal movie for anything but fights? Although some of the action is decent, it's quite obvious why Seagal is wearing long trench coats and covering his chin..

The Foreigner
can be seen as nothing but a disappointment, less action and lame plot make for a real boring movie, my only other observation has to be about Seagal himself, he seems less willing to throw himself in to the actionscenes like he did in Out For Justice or Under Siege, infact Seagal often looks bloated and disintrested with the project.

The movie starts of mildy entertaining, but once the movie starts to gain momentum there's always a secondary character to slow the movie down. So what we end up with is a movie that Seagal fans will no doubt wanna see, but people expecting an action movie will be disappointed by this sub-par effort, however ironically this is Seagal's better straight to video movies , but even so, Seagal is far away from the days of
Marked For Death and Above The Law where fans would actually get bang for the buck. Unfortunately This Foreigner should be deported. D.Michael Oblowitz *1/2
