Latest News....New Court Date 22 June 2009.... more

This website is dedicated in giving support to the Neilsen family in getting justice for Peanut, a 10 month old puppy who died by the acts of 2 men in October 2008, in Australia.

By reading Peanuts story, we hope to create awareness about Animal cruelty and with your help by signing the petition give us a voice, to help show the Courts that these 2 men deserve the Maximum Penalty.

The maximum penalty under the Animal Care and Protection Act for such an offence is $75,000 or 2 years in prison; however the maximum penalty ever handed out has been a 3 month jail term or 2 year probabation according to BLEATS.

We are fighting for the Law to enforce the MAXIMUM penalty for Peanuts case. We are also supporting BLEATS in advocating for Harsher Penalties for Animal Abuse in Australia and supporting Animals Matter to Me in getting a Universal Declaration on Animal Welfare at the United Nations to recognise Animals as 'Sentient Beings' (Animals Matter to Me currently have over 1.5 million on their petition)

Peanut was a living animal. A life! All life should be valued and respected. Peanut was a beautiful life, and his life was just as valued as any human being. He was part of a family!

The Law needs to recognise that Animals are Living 'Sentient Beings' and are important & valued.

Definition of Life:

(1) Highly organized; their various body functions are directly linked together
(2) Are chemically different to their surroundings
(3) Take in energy from their surrounding environment and use it for their own energy
(4) Have the capacity to reproduce themselves and produce offspring that closely resemble the adult
(5) Can respond to surrounding stimuli
(6) Are particularly suited to their environment
(7) Can adapt to changes in their surroundings
(8) Are composed of carbon based organic molecules

A completely "living being" has to show and experience the following: Movement, Respiration, Sensitivity, Growth, Reproduction, Excretion and Nutrition.

Peanut was all of the above! A Life!! All creatures big & small are important.

Please sign the Petitions to advocate for Harsher Penalties for Animal Cruelty.

Please feel free to link the Peanuts Law website on your own website.
