REPORTING

Anyone who has reason to believe that a child has been abused or likely to be abused or neglected has a legal duty under the Child, Family and Community Service Act to report the matter.

How to Report?
Report to a child protection social worker in either a Ministry of Children and Family Development office or a First Nations child welfare agency that provides child protection services.

Please visit the Ministry of Child and Family Development for the closest available help line in your area. www.mcf.gov.bc.ca
What to report?
A few questions will be asked at the time of the call, for example; Your name, telephone number, relationship to the child, immediate concerns, location of child, child' s age, the child's abuse situation, information on the family�etc.

*Notify a social worker immediately in the clinical setting and they will determine if the child needs protection, if the police need to be involved and they will coordinate with other agencies if needed*
