Protegé Models

The Mazda Protegé has only been around ten years, far less than the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla, but still has a strong heritage. It's ancestors were the Mazda GLC, known as the Great Little Car, and the Mazda 323. In 1990, the Mazda 323 was changed to Protegé, and has been that ever since.

Since it's introduction, the Protegé has had three trim levels, DX, LX, and ES. For the 2000 model year, the DX starts at $11,970 MSRP Price, and is basically the base model, and has a 1.6 liter 105hp engine. The LX starts at $13,345, and comes with many standard features like power windows, locks, CD player, and center console. The top of the line ES trim level starts at $15,145, which has a bigger 1.8 liter 122hp engine.
