Creating neon-like text

You can create neon-like text with the paste tool.

To create neon-like text:

  1. Create the text.
  2. Open up the canvas where you want to paste the text.
  3. Select the paste tool.
  4. Paste the text twice. For the first paste:

    Turn on the fill option.

    Turn on the outline option.

    Select airbrush as the outline brush type.

    Click paste.

  5. For the second paste, you turn off the outline option.

    Turn on the fill option.

    Turn off the outline option.

    Select airbrush as the outline brush type.

    Click paste.

The text appears with a sharp fill surrounded by a fuzzy outline, giving it a neon-like appearance.

Creating embossed text

You can create the effect of embossed text using the paste tool.

To create embossed text:

  1. Create the text.
  2. Open up the canvas where you want to paste the text.
  3. Paint the canvas with a background color.
  4. Paste the text twice. For the first paste:

    Select the paste tool.

    Select the text file.

    Select erase from the mode pull-down menu.

    Click paste.

    The text is pasted on the canvas in erase mode.

  5. For the second paste:

    Use the pick button to pick the background color.

    Click the paste color selector.

    Use the fine adjustment tool to offset the text being pasted by two pixels (x loc and y loc).

    Select over from the mode pull-down menu.

    Click paste.

Creating embossed text on a picture

You can place embossed text on any picture, such as a composited or an imported picture. For this procedure you use two canvases. The first canvas is a new canvas. The second canvas contains the picture where you will be placing the embossed text.

To create embossed text on a picture:

  1. Create the text.
  2. Create a new canvas (canvas 1) with the same dimensions as the picture canvas (canvas 2).
  3. Paste the text four times. For the first paste:

    Make canvas 1 the current canvas.

    Select the paste tool.

    Select the text file.

    Select over from the mode pull-down menu.

    Paste the text using any color.

  4. For the second paste:

    Select atop from the mode pull-down menu.

    Select canvas 2 from the paste tool's list.

    Paste canvas 2 on canvas 1.

  5. For the third paste:

    Select canvas 2 to make it the current canvas.

    Select the paste tool.

    Select the text file.

    Select erase from the mode pull-down menu.

    Use the fine adjustment tool to offset the text by approximately two pixels.

    Paste the text on canvas 2.

  6. For the final paste:

    Select canvas 1 from the paste tool's list.

    Select over from the mode pull-down menu.

    Paste canvas 1 on canvas 2.
