MotionSampler 3 Limitations

Limitation:

Camera Image plane files do not display properly in MotionSampler.

Solution:

Use an environment shader pix file color map instead.

Limitation:

For Orthographic windows.

Even though orthographic windows are saved as a part of an Alias session, MotionSampler 3 does not interpret or display these windows. The orthographic cameras in MotionSampler 3 are separate, special cameras and are neither read from or saved to Alias files.

Also, there is only one Front, Side , and Top camera.

Limitation:

The Frequency/Interval values which are set in the Capture Options option box are inaccurate.

The interval values are used as specified to initialize the interrupt timers for sampling. However, clock granularity and other system factors cause the interrupt frequency to run slower than specified. This is mainly a problem when you want the sampling rate to be slightly faster than the rate o external hardware. If the rate is too fast, then MS3 spends too much time in the sample interrupts when it could be drawing the scene and providing a faster screen update.

Solution:

The following is a table showing approximate rates. Note that with the system clock granularity at 10 milliseconds, 100 samples per second is the maximum rate.

Samples Per Second
Specified Actual
50 46
100 82
200 100

Limitation:

Motion Sampler freezes when "Sample" mode is toggled ON using the mouse on 02 machines.
