The first flights of the kite were done without the camera rig. Setting the bridal point was easy after some trial and error. I noticed that the rokkaku kite flies very stable and requires very little wind to fly. Once I flew the kite without any noticable surface winds. It flew well, but couldn't lift much of that 180 pound test kite line.

To get more wind, I went to the beach and lifted a water-filled plastic bottle. The bottle had the same weight as the camera rig and the kite lifted it easily. After that flight it was time to try kite aerial photography for real.

First flight with camera: Of the many pictures I took that day, I like this one best. I tied the kite line to a fire hydrand and took the time to compose this shot of me, my shaddow, and the closed road.

I had some photos left on the roll of film, so I took a picture of the kite itself. Even at low altitude, it was flying very steady.
