Couples in Digimon!

While you're waiting for this page to load, I give this warning: There's yaoi, ranting, and other junk down here. No hentai, though.
For those of you not farmiliar to the world of Digimon fangirls; to express a couple you combine the first part of one character's japanese name and combine it with the end of the other. Usually the guy's name comes first. Example: TK (Takeru) x Kari (Hikari) = Takari! Anyway, here are some practical opinions on Digimon coupling...

Couples I Enthusiate

Takari!

If I listed all the Takari hints, I'd be here all night. There are only two or three people in the world against Takari anywayz. TK and Kari are ALWAYS paired. In the same class, their digimon both digivolve into angels, they both got their digi-eggs at the same time, they're always walking off together. Let's not forget "His Master's Voice", and the "I care about you..." moment! Takari's one of the only ones where it's blatently obvious that each likes the other. It's fate! And it's so cute! :)

Kenako/Miyaken!

C'mon, you've noticed it... Miyako is head-over-heels for Ken and Ken has taken a liking to Miyako.
"Ken's Secret" -- Yolei spends most of this episode talking about marrying him... enough said.
"The Emperor's New Home" -- Even though she knows he's the Digimon Emperor, Yolei still admires his "dashing good looks." ^__^
"Spirit Needle" -- Yolei spends a lot of time up thinking about him. Her sisters think he's her boyfriend. When Ken comes to help them, Yolei admits she was wrong and the two of them work together to destroy Golemon. In the end of the episode, she sends him an e-mail showing her encouragement for him to become a digidestined, and the two share a cute look.
"United We Stand" -- Yolei's worried about Ken in the beginning of the episode.
"The Ultimate Anti-Hero" -- Yolei goes off by herself to look for Ken. I'm trying to find a right way to phrase the slapping scene so it can't be turned around into a Daiken hint... (Both Yolei and Davis have slapped Ken to snap him out of feeling sorry for himself.) Well.. Yolei's mark stayed there longer. I dunno, lol. After she slaps him, Ken's so embarassed he can't even look her in the eye or talk to her. He just whimpers. ^__^
"Opposites Attract" -- After Yolei storms off, she immediatly thinks that Ken'll hate her and feels bad. After Yolei and Kari climb out of the pit, Ken says he's sorry for not being able to help Yolei. Yolei tries to bring light to the situation... and fails horribly as she stumbles over what to say the the very cute former Digimon Emperor. You could argue that there's Kenkari here too, and I'm not opposed to that. They have the hair, after all ^_^
"A Chance Encounter" -- Before going to meet the others, Ken realizes Yolei's in trouble and goes by himself to save her and bring her Poromon.
"Duel of the Wargreymon" -- Who is it that's chosen to break the bad news to Ken? Yolei!

Kento!

You thought I'd be against this, didn't you? LOL. Actually, I like it. I like it a lot. I was a Yama obsessor way before I was a Ken obsessor, so seeing them together is just... EEEE!! They're both the "lone wolves" of the group, and they've also both had contact with darkness. Remember the cave episode form 01? If only 01 Matt could meet 02 Ken. Matt and Ken were first really brought together in the third world tour episode. Think I pair Ken with too many people? Well, as Matt once said, "There's enough of Ken to go around!" Hehehe...

Couples I Like

Daikeru!

This I like because it takes people's mind off Daiken. ^__^ It also gives TK somebody if Kari goes with Ken. When Daisuke gets to the point of crying when TK and Kari go off together, the obvious reason is that Daisuke is upset Kari likes TK better... but maybe, just maybe it's the other way around.... ^__^ Besides, Daisuke thinks about TK a lot. He must, because he thinks about him 'stealing Kari away from him.' Just like in Taito, Daisuke and TK have fought... and made up...

Koushimi!

This possibility I basically ignored, until I saw "The Dark Network of Etemon." (I think that was the episode.) Now I think it's really cute! They look good together.... much better than Joe and Izzy.

Daiyako!

This isn't bad at all! ^__^ Their personalities are a good fit! Sure, they argue a lot... but playful arguing can only bring you closer! Remember in "Ultimate Anti-Hero", when Davis was clinging onto the tree close to tears? Who conforts him? (Well, besides Veemon.) And don't forget, "If anybody owes anything, Davis owes me! *cute look*" ~UPDATE~ In "The Dark Gate", Yolei's worried about Davis... more-so than Ken!

Miyori!

Hey, they've known each other for a while. Even if Yolei views Iori as a kid, I think Iori might have a childish crush on her. After all, he's always inviting her over his house (is his computer REALLY broken?) and when he remembers the others trapped under the ocean, Yolei's the first one he thinks of. Remember when Yolei was obsessing over Ken in "Ken's Secret"? Iori was so eager to pinch her, he was! ^__^

Kouyako

I'm getting more open-minded about relationships between 01 kids and 02 kids. Remember in the first episodes how Miyako practically started worshipping Izzy the minute she saw him? Izzy was also the only one she trusted with Poromon when she was in Kyoto. Damn... Yolei goes good with everybody!

Jyoushiro/Kouou/whatever the heck you'd call Izzy x Joe

I changed my mind about this one -- now I think it's a pretty good idea. They're both the responsible/intelligent ones in 01. Joe goes nuts at the thought of missing Izzy's theory ("I love Izzy's theories!" Reeeeally.), and in the same episode, Izzy gets pushed off a bridge while sticking up for Joe!!

Taken

Yes, you read right, I put this in the ones I like section. It took a while, but I decided I like Taken. It all started with the flooring scene (notice how eagerly TK dived for Kenny. ;)) Afterwards, Ken was sort of nervous/ashamed around TK, and they kinda avoided each other... because, who knows what would happen if they were ever caught alone together? Hehe. Observe: "There's no 'I' in team!" "*sighs*" TK wants control over Ken -- rowr. After being shot down like that, Ken is disappointed because he wants TK's approval, and he doesn't have the heart to contradict him. Yeah, yeah, I know I'm stretching this... ^__^

Ummm... no.

Takori!

It's just... this sooo doesn't work. I oppose just about everything with Iori. The kid's asexual, dammit! TK thinks of him as a cute little kid, and Iori's a little afraid of TK. LOL. They were only paired to jogress digivolve because they were the only ones left.

Miyakari

I'm not exactly sure where I stand on this. I just don't like it because they'd go better with other people... (namely, Ken.) I also think the writers would have them ignore each other if they weren't the only two girls in the group.

Jyouimi

This one's on the borderline of moving up to the ones I like. If you have a convincing site, e-mail me. Anyway, their hair colors clash and they barely speak in 02, and in 01 Mimi was too stuck up for Joe.

Mimato/Yamimi

Sure, they look good... but they barely speak!

Miyami

Errr... Miyako has an unhealthy fixation on Mimi, I admit. But she says she wants them to be SISTERS. Besides, Miyako's too young... and she likes Ken way more.

Jyori

Uh-uh. No way. Joe's the oldest and Iori's the youngest. Sure, Joe's helped Iori out and given him advice, but he'd do that for anybody! And OF COURSE Iori's nice in return...

Chiken

What the flerk am I talking about? Ken and Rosa (Chicos). This is just... no. He was being nice to her, 'tis all. ^__^ I loved the cute jokes they threw in on this subject, which is why this isn't in the loathed section. Chiken just isn't to be taken seriously...

Miyakeru

I'm really not sure whether I like this one or not... it's just that recently I've come to the conclusion that Yolei has a secret crush on TK. In the episode where she gets the digi-egg of sincerity, she said that she won't fall in love with a guy by first sight again because he could be a jerk like Davis or cool like TK. Hmm... mmm-hmm... mmm-hmm. Catch the drift? ^__^ Also, after Arukenimon creates Blackwargreymon and Kari and TK are hit, Davis yells out the name of his beloved Kari, and who is Miyako upset about? TK!

Daikari

It's just... this is way too one-sided. Kari is nice to Davis because she's nice to everybody -- she doesn't like him! Remember in "Iron Veggiemon"? They never made up after that. I'd rather see Kari with TK, Ken or even Yolei! (Refer to the framegrab at the top of the page. Hehe.) Kari doesn't like Davis looking out for her or trying to hold her hand when she's scared -- after all, Kari's already been through all the Digimon stuff in 01. I hate to mention this, but Davis drools over Ken now anyway. He always admires those he's not worthy of.

Taiora

I don't know what to say. It's just the lead female and the lead male. :/ If there were more hints, I'd probably support it... but there aren't! The only time I can think of that it's expressed is in the movie... and those were dubbed in. Literally! Tai accidently bumps the keyboard and puts a heart on his letter, and Kari sends it. Taiora fans, go support Takari. You can actually have some ground to defend. For crying out loud, Kenako has more hints, and there are a lot less supporters. Somebody please explain the widespread Taiora fantasy to me....

Sorato

They're so wrong for each other it's not even funny. In 01 they barely acknowledged each other's existance, and suddenly in 02 the writers thought, "Hey... the characters are getting older. Let's have a relationship for fun! Mimi's in America, so forget about her -- we'll use Sora! Matt's the hottest guy, so badda-bing-badda-boom, there's Sorato!" What have they done to my poor Yama? :(
For those of you who have seen the end of 02, notice this: In every picture, Ken and Yolei, also married, are standing close together or holding each other. Matt and Sora? They barely look at each other! This has led me to believe they are divorced. Who is Matt standing next to instead? TAI!! ^__^ Take THAT!!

EXACTLY!! Mimato is *crap*. Note that as a statement, not a question or an exclamation. Exclamations don't make a statement more powerful. Mimato came out of *nowhere*, and people only believe it because they think "it looks good". Feh, these are the people (not all) that go for superficial love ('love at first sight' crap). You know, hot bloke/hot gel, you fall in love with their looks. *koff* I believe the term is "Beauty is only skin deep".

I've ran into people saying "Matt and Mimi were festering a quiet desire for each other, the whole time!" and such, and this is bull. They can say what they want, but it's not logic. It's not informed. If they get into an arguement with another person (Say, a neutral, unbiased, informed person), they'll lose, I assure you, because they didn't use logic. One whom doesn't use logic in a debate has already lost. Power is given, control is taken.

Then, Sorato. What the *hell* is that? There has been no proof (But if anyone says "the cave scene", I'll slap them.), except just showing that Yamato's true to his crest. He's just a good person, helping her out, like any decent person would do for a friend. He's done that countless times. And those supporters take that as "they lust for each other"? I notice, fanfics supporting these two and others are 95% pure drival. There *are* the gems, good ones that do seem believeable, but the writers understand it's a *fictional* element, and they are jsut telling people their beliefs, while others try to force down the idea down the throats of others, succeeding only on weak-minded people (VERY low percentage).

So then, as you realize, people can believe whatever they want, but if they try to pass off fiction for truth, they are a *tad* obsessed. This just proves they're idiots. Shoving down the idea down the throats of other people is just pointless, and a bit extremeist. Some people inadvertently (*koff*me*koff*) convice people with detailed rants/statements about their chosen couple, giving as much example as they can. Thus, it's more believeable, and people are willing to support the idea. Being forceful won't do, it just makes you sound pompous and arrogant.

On the topic of convincing, older supporters tend to take advantage of younger viewers. The younger ones look up to the former, and follow along like a lost puppy. Some don't give in, but strictly believe in what they've chosen. Often, this is just because they're close-minded, but many times it's just because they're *aware* they have an opinion, and stick to their guns, in terms.

What many supporters are forgetting, that the older ones are the majority, and younger ones are intimidated into taking side with what they don't want, like being flamed or threatened. This is crossing the line of convincing. You can write all the angry, hate-filled rants you want, and convince people that way or not, but *forcibly* doing so makes you very hated and loathed. Hell, that's almost like Hitler. No one wishes to go through that in their life, and certainly no one deserves it.

I am a Taito supporter. I am not ashamed of that. Call me freak, idiot, bitch, jackass, lesbian, bi, whatever. I have my reasons on why I chose this couple, and I'm not about to drop it for the sake of reputation. I am not afraid. This isn't a show, this isn't a bluff. It's just one teen giving her opinion on things. Disagree, agree, whatever. It doesn't matter as long as I got my point across and made people more-or-less understand what kind of person I am. Words are words, they're cheap. I could have just condensed this into a long paragraph, but in that itself would have made it difficult to understand with all the tangled emotion in it. I'm willing to do this again, if the situation presents itself.
