Mom fastens a necklace that my Bubbe, Ruth Myers, gave me for my bat mitzvah. This necklace was made from her engagement ring (her arthritic hands could no longer handle it by the time I was 12). Bubbe passed away several years ago. The necklace represented Dad's family; I also carried a very old siddur (prayer book) that belongs to my grandmother Bette Bober to represent Mom's family. |
