Name: My real name is Rochelle Reid Myers.
Education: I am a graduate of L'academie de Cuisine in Gaithersburg, MD. I also have a BA from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. I majored in Interdisciplinary Studies with concentrations in American Studies and Women's Studies.
Residence: I live in a wonderful hizouse in Takoma Park, MD, which we've dubbed the Bi Chalet. I grew up in Greensboro, NC, and I lived in Boone, NC, Springfield, VA, and Washington, DC before settling in Takoma.
Hobbies: Vegetarian cooking, reading, entertaining friends (that is, acting as a Jewish mother by feeding and fussing over people), traveling, ISCA BBS, eGullet
Things I Wish I Considered Hobbies But That Are Really Things I Make Myself Do: Working out, doing home maintenance work, yardwork/gardening. Oh, the joys of homeownership and health management.
Religion: I was raised as a conservative Jew, and I'm still mostly Jewish in my outlook and practice. There's some Unitarian and some neopagan type sentiment in there somewhere, along with a smattering of apathy.
Politics: screaming lefty. The Democratic party is way too conservative for me, but I'm registered in MD as a democrat anyways for purposes of choosing Democratic candidates.
Life-partner: Erin Reid. We've been together since January 1997, and we bought the Bi Chalet in October 1999. Erin rawks my universe.

Family: I have a big brother, Adam, who is pretty much my polar opposite (he's a Republican engineer sports-fan Orthodox Jew)...although, y'know, we DO both like Weird Al and anything Jim Henson did. Adam lives in Ohio. My parents are Barbara and Charles Myers of Greensboro, NC. They've learned to develop a sense of humor about their two strangely divergent kids. I also have three living grandparents and a slew of aunts, uncles, cousins, and so on...most of these people live around the Southern US, especially in Virginia and North Carolina.
Age: My birthday is 11/29/1974. I'll leave it to you to calculate how many shopping days are left.
