Scholarships and FormsLPA offers different types of scholarships, medical grants, conference attendance assistance grants and adoption assistance grants. Below are a list of current Scholarships or Funds. If you have any question just email [email protected]. Scholarship Application Scholarship info and applications are available online from early January and due by mid-April in the year prior to the school year you are planning on attending college. For example, if your intent is to attend college starting in Fall of 2008, then you would need to apply by April of 2008. Scholarships are given, in order of preference to:
To be considered eligible by the LPA Scholarship Committee you must submit a completed application for the scholarship, a letter of request,
and three (3) letters of reference. One reference letter must be from an officer of LPA, one must be a professional reference (i.e. employer,
teacher, high school counselor, clergyman, volunteer coordinator, public official), and one must be a personal reference (non-relative). Also,
starting next year, we will be asking applicants to describe in their letter of request how they intend to "give back" to LPA once their education
is complete. Volunteer service to LPA is not required to receive a scholarship, but it will increase your chances of a favorable review of your
application. Georget Bock Charitable Trust LPA Health Advocacy Fund It is the intended primary purpose of the Little People of America Health Advocacy Fund shall be to provide monies for a one-time use to assist LPA members in contributing toward their financial obligations for various dwarf-related medical expenses. The fund shall be used to provide assistance toward the remaining medical expenses after coinsurance, insurance deductibles, and other payments toward medical expenses have been applied. The intent is to not necessarily pay for all remaining eligible unpaid expenses, but rather to provide some financial assistance toward an individual’s or a family’s eligible unpaid expenses where demonstrated financial burden or need exists. Examples of expenses for medical procedures that will be considered for assistance under this Fund (but are not limited to) are surgeries related to a specific dwarfism condition, placement/removal of shunts, decompression surgery, and orthopedic procedures. This Fund will not be used for cosmetic purposes or extended leg-lengthening procedures. *Allocations for grants for the Fund to LPA members will be considered throughout each fiscal year. There will be no application deadline. This scholarship is named after one of our first members, the late Mary Kitchens. Mrs. Kitchens felt strongly that the LPA experience should be available to all who desired it. Mrs. Kitchens and her late husband, Lee, an LPA Founding Member, sowed the seeds to grow this important program into one of LPA finest and most beneficial. Each year LPA is pleased to provide $8,000 - $10,000 in Kitchens Fund Grants. |
