"Under the Sea"

Project: " Fish in the SEA "
Drawing fish of all types in an ocean scene

Fish Art Gallery

Materials:
12 x 18 construction paper or watercolor paper
watercolors
colored pencils
other media option--ie.chalk
brushes
water basins
sharpie pens
blotters
Prep: Water in basins, Paper out and cut to size, watercolor choices as prang watercolor set, or WC oil pastels

Activity: Students will draw FISH with colors and many varieties of their choice Encourages imagination and Creativity.

Optional: Draw with permanent marker pen. Sample and Fish ARt Gallery were created with permanent pen instead of pencil first.

1. Drawing step by step, Students can follow the teacher and draw a fish, using the method of first the eye, then the mouth, and then the body and head of the fish. This will direct the size of the fish.


2. Next the students will draw more fish, using these guidelines, and replicating fish that live in the sea.


3. Add sand, sea weed, and ocean bottom animals like crabs, starfish etc.


4. When the picture has been drawn, students may choose how to finish this picture using watercolors, markers, colored pencils, or a variety of media.

Objectives:
Use Creativity and Imagination to make something all their own
Understanding the use of line (design elements), composition, and color
Understand the use of color when creating something to attract attention
Encourages imagination and Creativity.

Eslar Targets: #2 Communication. Using what students have learned and creating an artist expression

#3 Spiritual Jonah and the Whale, Or story about the Fish in the pond that recovered the coin.
