SRR AylhrChapter Forty-One: Jarok's Persistance
[SRR Aylhr]

"Try it again"

"Reh have been at this for rhi hours rekkhai"

Jarok's tone was unsympathetic. "Reh na diae. Au hna tlhei-a. Perform them"

The exsperated reply of "Ie" signaled the end of the discussion and the continuation of what the iahwil believed to be pointless repair work. The systems were fully operational and 95% of all lost data had been retrieved. this would have constituted a resounding sucess considering the extent of the damage. Jarok neither cared nor was interested in the Iahwil's opinion. All he wished for was the few remaining files that had been inextricably lost.

Jarok's normal sneer was replaced by and almost pleased look as the console flickered once and began displaying portions of the lost data. As quickly as it appeared, it disappeared. All Jarok was able to discern were that two entirely unexplained events occured as the shields of the t'Rakla fell. As to the nature of these events, that was unknown. He grit his teeth and hissed into the communicator

"Iahwil?"

There was a long pause.

"...Ie rekkhai. Malfunction. Random power spike"

The iahwil seemed agitated and distant. Jarok's angry look took over once again. Obvious the Iahwil was beginning to tire of his incessant demands or his work was beginning to falter under strain. Neither of these reasons interested Jarok, he wished only for results. Jaroks voice was low and sarcastic.

"Is everything menkha Iahwil? Must reh fetch the aid of yet *another* Iahwil?"

This one was the fourth and only one to at least partially succeed at his task.

"All is well rekkhai" The reply was quick. Much quicker than the Iahwil's usually frustrated and almost disrespectful answers.

There was a disconcerting pause, Jarok was about to order the Iahwil to continue work, but as if sensing his request a slow and almost scripted reply came.

"I was surprised, thats all. The relay's have been damaged beyond repair by the surge. Im sorry rekkhai"

Jarok frowned. The iahwil neither sounded sorry or convincing.

"Au are *sure* it is damaged beyond repair Iahwil?"

The very sure sounding voice quicky replied. "Ie. Ie. Positive, 100% sure rekkhai. I am returning to Deck tho now"

With that the communication's were cut. Jarok was annoyed at the defeated tone of the iahwil. They had almost achieved their goals only to have failed again. This was the last time. He tapped the communications to the iahwil only to have the computer reply that he was "No longer available"

Jarok tapped on the internal sensors. The iahwil was indeed on deck tho, with him was the bio-signature Enarrain tr'Khola. Obviously the Enarrain had had enough of Jarok's seemingly unnecessary reallocation of 'valuable' resources and had decided to take matters, and the iahwil, into his own hands. Jarok was about to communicate with the Enarrain but hesitated suddenly as for a split second, he could have sworn that the sensors had detected a third presence which had faded out almost like a ghost or aehallh. Most probably a ghost. The ghost of all who lost their lives in a futile attempt to destroy a single warbird. It would surprise Jarok not if such things had taken a haven aboard the t'Rakla, what better way to punish their murderer?

Before he could scrutinize further both the iahwil and the Enarrain moved away. Jarok cursed silently. Not only had he lost his oppurtunity to find the contents of the awaenndraev, but he had also lost a valuable tool in helping him find it. He was now left alone to figure out a way to do so, on a bridge with a traitorous leih and an ira'draes who would na hesitate to kill him.
