The Event:
Black Powder matches are conducted using replica percussion pistols and "black powder', the forerunner to the modern day smokeless powders. Black powder matches require stringent precautions because of the volatile nature of the powder and are generally only taken up by people who have had several years experience of pistol shooting.
This event is similar to the Free Pistol Match but only 40 shots are fired in a time limit of 2 hours.

The Event:
The 25 metre event is similar to the Centre Fire match but only 40 shots are fired: 20 scoring shots on the Precision Target followed by 20 scoring shots on the Rapid Fire targets in the Rapid Fire stage.
In the precision stage 12 minutes are allowed per 5 shots.
