A gateway to Queen Metaria opens and Beryl, Nephrite, Jadeite and Kunzite walk through it. Beryl congratulates Jadeite and Nephrite. Beryl and Kunzite talk for a while after the other two leave to continue their mission. Beryl realises or at least begins to suspect that Kunzite hasn't lost his memories. After he's gone she says that this time the Princess will not get in the way.

Minako is preparing to move again, when she has another attack. Rei is still wondering why the Princess is putting herself in danger. Usagi finishes the muffler.

Ami has discovered that she likes knitting and is now making mittens but is evasive as to who they are for. Makoto has also finished her muffler but doesn't know who to give it to. She is still worried about the whole Mamoru situation. Meanwhile, Luna and Rei discuss the whole Sailor Venus situation: They can't figure out what to make of her behaviour. Luna is also unable to contact Artemis. Rei says that something is suspicious and that she wants to talk to the Princess again.

Minako puts a Valentine's Day Photo on her website to lure the enemy. Artemis is worried about her condition. Minako says that if she doesn't do this then Sailor Moon might be attacked.

Usagi worries about whether to give her muffler to Mamoru. Next morning she has to look after Hikari, the daughter of a friend of her mother's. Hikari asks Usagi for advice because she's worried about Valentine's Day.

Makoto realises that Rei knows something about the Princess, but Rei won't say what and leaves. Ami compares it to the secret that they are keeping from Usagi but Makoto says that's different. Thinking about Usagi makes her depressed so she leaves.

Motoki is sad because he hasn't received any Valentine's - until Makoto gives him the muffler she made on the way out.

Usagi takes Hikari shopping for Valentine's chocolate for Daichi - the boy Hikari likes. She tells Usagi that there is a woman Daichi likes and points her out. It's none other than Hina who is Daichi's tutor. Hikari is determined not to lose to Hina, which encourages Usagi to do likewise. At the chocolate shop Hikari purchases a large and expensive chocolate heart using all her New Year's money, much to Usagi's shock.

Rei sees the photo on Minako's website and thinks that she's at it again. Nephrite tells Jadeite that he's found the Princess and asks him to come with him.

Hikari and Usagi reach Daichi's home in time to see Hina leave. Mamoru is waiting for her. Hikari sees a gift wrapped box in Daichi's hands and almost gives up, but Usagi talks her round. He is happy and invites Hikari in to play. After Hikari is gone, Usagi admits to herself that she can't bring herself to give the chocolate she bought to Mamoru. (She bought the chocolate after Hikari told her hand knitted items did not make good first gifts.)

Rei locates the building from the photo. Usagi comes across a monster attacking people and transforms. Nearby Mamoru and Hina hear a loud noise. Sailor Moon fights with the monster but it vanishes and then attacks from above. She is saved by Tuxedo Mask and then defeats the monster. Neither of them see Jadeite grin and leave. Sailor Moon gives Tuxedo Mask the chocolate. She mentions that she meant it for someone else but that person is attached. Not knowing that it's him, he sadly thinks that she has someone else, and tells her not to give up so easily.

Rei arrives at Minako's location and senses the presence of the enemy. She transforms and rushes in to find Venus trapped under Nephrite's foot. He reaches down and takes Venus' tiara.

Usagi finally finishes the muffler.

Meanwhile, Queen Metaria starts to awaken...

- It is made apparent that Queen Beryl suspects Kunzite still remembers his past life.
- Usagi adds the fringe to the ends of the scarf she has been making, finally completing it.
- Makoto realises that Rei knows something about the Princess, but Rei won't tell her.
- Makoto gives her scarf to Motoki as a Valentine's Day present.
- Usagi helps minor character Hikari get together with even minor-er character Daichi.
- Usagi decides to give Mamoru chocolate instead of the scarf (because of Hikari's advice), but she cannot bring herself to do so.
- Instead, she gives the chocolate to Tuxedo Mask, and says that the person she was going to give it to already has a partner. Usagi, of course, does not yet know that Mamoru and Tuxedo Mask are the same person.
- Even though Mamoru knows that Usagi is Sailor Moon, he does not realise that the other person is him, and is sad about this.
- Minako lures Nephrite to a building, and Rei (having spent a lot of time thinking about Venus' behaviour and discussing it with Luna) realises this and goes too. The episode ends with Rei arriving to see Venus under Nephrite's foot, and Nephrite taking Venus' tiara.
