Despite Tuxedo Mask helping to save Usagi in the previous episode, the other girls and Luna insist that it's still better for Usagi to stay away from him, much to Usagi's disappointment. Minako, meanwhile, is concerned about the monsters that are always near her, and the enemy that wants the Princess and the Silver Crystal. Artemis agrees that she has to do something about it.
Usagi sees a news broadcast about Minako having some of her jewellery stolen. Usagi and Naru discuss this at school. Apparently, stolen jewels are sometimes sold at auctions. They agree to go to a jewellery auction the next day (using Naru's mother's name). Ami arrives, but remembering the way Ami treated her, Naru basically ignores her. Naru asks Usagi to go to Karaoke Crown with her, and Usagi invites Ami, but noticing the Naru's animosity, she declines. Later, Mamoru is at Karaoke Crown talking to Motoki, who is showing potential mates to his turtle. Usagi, Naru and two of their other friends arrive, talking about possible feelings between Usagi and Mamoru, which Usagi flatly denies. Usagi suddenly notices Mamoru standing there, and is susprised to learn about him carrying her after she passed out.
After Ami goes into the secret meeting room (where Rei and Makoto are) and Usagi, Naru and the other girls sing karaoke for a while, Naru asks Motoki for a favour. The next day, Usagi meets Naru at the auction building, but reveals that she is actually going home, leaving Usagi alone with Mamoru, who is just as surprised as she is. Suddenly, three people in suits with brighly-coloured shirts go past them and drop a case, which opens. Usagi notices that the earrings in it are the same as the ones she's seen Minako wearing on TV, and after the jewellery thieves pick up the case and run, Mamoru convinces her that rather than trying to do anything herself, she should talk to a policeman. There is a policeman outside, but he seems very uncooperative, saying that all accessories look the same. Usagi says that she has to recover the jewels herself, by transforming into Sailor Moon. She quickly realises what she's said, and she and Mamoru turn away from each other, embarrassed. There is a very awkward silence.
With some clever deduction, Mamoru has figured out that the thieves must have come by car, and that the jewels are not going to be auctioned that day. He and Usagi stake out the indoor car park. After they see the thieves getting into their car, Mamoru goes up to the car, apparently to ask them something. When they roll the window down he throws a smoke bomb into the car and runs, causing them to get out of the car and run after him, leaving the case. Usagi grabs it, but they spot her, and she runs. She falls flat on her face. Mamoru arrives on his motorbike and rescues her. Later, the two of them are standing outside against a railing, when the policeman walks up to them and transforms into a monster. The monster cuts Mamoru's arm with its sword and knocks him over a railing to the ground below. Usagi transforms into Sailor Moon and fights the monster, defeating it fairly quickly.
Elsewhere, Minako walks along, talking to Artemis who is concealed in her coat. They are glad that their plan to distract the Dark Kingdom with this jewellery theft went off without a hitch. The only person hurt was Mamoru, who got a minor cut on his arm, which Usagi ties a handkerchief around before getting on his motorbike and riding away with him. Meanwhile, Ami, Rei and Makoto have been out searching in relation to something Luna found about a string of disappearing girls. It's the evening, and they still haven't found anything. Rei asks Ami if something happened between her and Usagi, but Ami insists that nothing is wrong. Suddenly, a big hole begins to appear in the ground. It looks like a pit of quicksand, which Makoto falls into. There is a monster in the centre, and it laughs as Makoto is gradually pulled closer and closer to it. Ami and Rei decide to transform.

Characters Introduced:

Important Events:
- It is made clear in this episode that the Dark Kingdom (specifically Nephrite, but probably Kunzite as well) is keeping monsters near Minako at all times, in an attempt to get closer to the Silver Crystal. The theft in this episode was either arranged by Minako or exploited by her, in an attempt to lure the Dark Kingdom away from her for a short time.
- Mamoru wonders if Sailor V/Venus has a connection to the Princess in his dream, but he is reluctant to ask Sailor Moon because of what might happen if they continue to become closer. He then receives a phone call, during which he mentions a promise that will be fulfilled before he graduates...
- Naru seems very bitter towards Ami due to the way she perceived Ami as treating her in the previous episode. Ami has noticed this, and tries to simply avoid any conflict.
- Ami, Rei and Makoto comment on the fact that it has become a routine for all of them to go to the secret room at Karaoke Crown. However, Usagi is not there, because she is with her other friends. They conclude that it is because of Usagi's warm personality that she has another group of friends as well.
- Motoki doesn't think there is any likelihood that Usagi has feelings for him. However, both Naru and Motoki believe that Usagi has feelings for Mamoru. Usagi insists that Naru has misunderstood.
- Usagi and Mamoru continue to get closer. In this episode, Mamoru calls her "Usagi" to her face for the first time.
- Luna discovers information about a string of girls who have gone missing, and Ami, Rei and Makoto go out and investigate. As mentioned above, a big hole (like a pit of quicksand) appears in the ground, and Makoto falls into it. There is a monster in the centre, and it laughs as Makoto is gradually pulled closer and closer to it...
