The events of the previous episode continue to have an impact on everyone. The Sailor Guardians discuss the fact that Sailor Venus is the Princess, but they still can't really fulfil their role as her protectors because she said she had a mission of her own. Nephrite tells Queen Beryl about Zoisite's final word to Tuxedo Mask - "Endymion" - and Beryl modifies his memory, making him forget about it. Queen Beryl begins the process of awakening the last of the Four Heavenly Kings, using a white rose that she is gradually turning black. Finally, Mamoru is continuing to ponder about Endymion and the Princess.
Usagi and Mamoru help Motoki find his lost turtle, in the process meeting a man called Shin, who asks the two of them to stay because he feels like has has met them before. He explains that he has lost his memory, and Usagi asks him if he remembers anything, such as his favourite things. He says he likes white flowers, greenery and the sea. After Usagi leaves, she tries to prove to Mamoru that she wants to help Shin by buying a white rose to give to him. Mamoru then follows her as she goes around trying to find ways of showing him nature even though he doesn't feel he can go outside. Everything worthwhile is too expensive, so Usagi ends up getting some cheap postcards. Mamoru offers to take her on his motorbike to the sea. She hugs him tightly as they ride there. Usagi puts pebbles and shells in a jar of water, and gives Mamoru half of a nikuman (meat-filled bun) as thanks.
Beryl's rose becomes even darker, and as Shin is sitting in the dark in his house, he disappears. In a street, a girl is attacked. She is strangled by a lock of black hair which then seeps into her neck, and then her eyes glow purple. The next day, Mamoru arrives at Shin's house with the things Usagi collected in an attempt to help him regain his memory. Shin seems to be realising who he is - and he is afraid to lose his feeling of loving flowers. He says that he isn't human. As he screams in pain and black rose petals swirl about, the girl who was attacked begins attacking people herself, elsewhere. When Usagi pays a brief visit to Shin's house, Mamoru assures her that he has regained his memory and left. Usagi goes to fight the girl - the girl asks Sailor Moon for help, and then turns into a monster. Meanwhile, Beryl's black rose has bloomed, and Shin has turned into Kunzite, the last of the Four Heavenly Kings. He arrives after Sailor Moon heals the girl, and attacks her. He strangles her with a lock of his hair, which then seeps into her neck. Tuxedo Mask has arrived, but he can do nothing. Sailor Moon's eyes glow purple...
(Anime/Manga Comparison)
Characters Introduced:
- Kuunzite
Important Events:
- There is a flashback to something that happened after the end of the previous episode: Luna told Sailor Venus that the Guardians would protect her from now on, but she said she had a mission of her own, and that the Guardians should fight the enemy
- Queen Beryl uses a crystal to make Nephrite forget what Zoisite had said about Endymion
- Usagi and Mamoru are gradually finding they dislike each other less and less... even if they're not the best of friends, they seem to be getting on fairly well by this point
- Mamoru identifies with Shin because of his memory loss, and Usagi notices the similarity between Shin's situation and Tuxedo Mask's (this isn't important to the story arc as such, but I still thought it was worth noting)
- Sailor Moon is attacked by Kunzite, and will soon become a monster. To be continued...
New Items:
N/A
New Attacks:
No new attacks, but it's worth noting here that Usagi seems to have forgotten the last time she used Moon Healing Escalation, in Act 1. She and Luna acted as if she'd never healed a monster to turn it back into a person before.
