It was above this forest moon the Emperor Palpatine died aboard the second Death Star by the hands of Darth Vader. The victory spread the light and justice of the New Republic thought out the galaxy.
Endor is located in the remote Moddell sector. Endor is actually a gas giant that is orbited by 9 moons. The largest moon is the Forest Moon that is often referred to as Endor.
The Forest Moon of Endor is covered with woodlands, savannas, and mountains. The moon is home to several intelligent creatures. These include Ewoks, gigantic Goraxes, stilt legged Yuzzums, and superfast Teeks.
Though the short, furry Ewoks appear to be cute and cuddly to many observers, they are actually master hunters and fierce warriors. Ewoks live in lakeside dwellings and in villages built high in trees, which can reach heights of thousands of meters.
It was a young Ewok named Wicket W. Warrick that had roles in several events on the Moon. When Wicket was still a very young Ewok a spaceship carrying a human family crashed on the moon, he befriended a young Cindel Towani after her parents were captured and later killed. After The Ewoks defeated the giant Gorlax and a tribe of alien Marauders, Cindel was able to leave the Forest Moon with a kindhearted old man named Noa.
Emperor Palpatine later used the Forest Moon as the site to construct the second Death Star. He used a shield on the moon to protect the Death Star. He planted information with Rebel spies and waited. Han Solo Princess Leia, and Luke Skywalker landed on the moon while the rest of the rebel fleet prepared to attack the Death Star. After Han, Leia and Luke landed they got separated in a spectacular speeder bike chase. Leia was found by Wicket and later the Ewoks captured Han, Luke and Chewie, C3PO, and R2D2 and they held the golden droid in a religious reverence. Their admiration, combined with a demonstration of Force levitation , won their freedom. After C3PO added the Ewoks to the tale of the Empire's downfall, they agreed to help the rebels.
After the attack on the shield generator failed the Ewoks sprang a surprise attack. Stromtroopers were caught in a hail of rocks, spears and arrows while Imperial Scout Walkers were tripped, snared and crushed between logs and the Ewoks activated their traps.
Soon Han, Leia and Chewie were able to blow the shield generator up. This enabled Lando Calrissian and Wedge Antillies to fly into the Death Star and blow the main reactor up.
Meanwhile Luke left to save his Father Darth Vader. He was brought before the Emperor on the Death Star where he dueled with his father. The Emperor again underestimated his enemy and after Luke cut of his father's hand he stopped and refused to kill him. As the Emperor shoot blue lightning at Luke slowly killing him Darth Vader turned on the Emperor who seemed so intent on Luke he failed to notice Darth Vader's change back to the good side and paid the price as Anakin Skywalker lifted the Emperor up and threw him down a reactor shaft to his doom.
Luke escaped just before the Death Star exploded. Realizing that the battle was lost. Captain Pellaeon of the Star Destroyer Chimaera ordered the Imperial fleet's immediate retreat. Even though the weakened Empire was fought the Battle of Endor marked the end of the Galactic Civil War.
