A Trip to the Dentist
home
I had my semi-annual trip to the dentist today.  Unfortunately, I seem to have quite a case of pregnancy-induced gingivitis.  They said that that is not at all uncommon, but it is something to be very careful of because gingivitis can of course lead to gum disease, which could be very bad for the baby.  An infection of that magnitude could bring on preterm labor.  So I'm now scheduled to see the dentist again in 3 months instead of 6, but they said they actually recommend that to all pregnant and nursing women.  Hormones do so many lovely things. :)
I'm also not getting much relief from my bladder infection, so I called my doctor today and they ran another urinalysis.  Hopefully I'll know tomorrow if the antibiotic isn't working effectively or what.  It's very frustrating because all this peeing is really messing with my sleep schedule and my days are just wasting away.  I have so much to get done for school and I was so lazy in June, but now I've got this throwing my whole schedule off!
On a fun note, Nate and I bought some baby clothes tonight.  Our neighborhood Target is shutting down because they are about to open a Super Target about a mile and a half away from the old one.  So they've got a bunch of stuff on clearance and we got several cute little outfits for about $25.  Most of what we got tonight was rather boyish but not so much so that it couldn't be worn by a girl.  However, we came to the conclusion last week that if we saw a really great clearance, we should just buy stuff for either sex.  Then whenever we find out what we're having, the rest can either go in a box of gift clothing or be put away for a later child of our own.  Using that logic, we bought a whole bunch of stuff at Kids R Us last week, because they are now at the 50%-80% off range.  There, the girl clothes were cuter, but at Target, there was a preponderance of cute boy clothes.  Right now, we probably have a few more things for a boy than for a girl, but then again, a lot of the girl stuff is two piece outfits and the boy stuff is more individual pieces.  So in the end, it's probably a pretty even balance.  But we've made a pact that we won't buy ANY more clothes until after the baby is born unless it's also something that's on a phenomenal clearance.  We've got plenty already and I know I usually give clothes for baby gifts, so I'm sure we'll get plenty more, too.
Well, I think that's about it.  I'll check back in soon!

INSOMNIA!!
Aargh!  This is getting out of control!  I did not sleep one single second last night.  Shortly after five, I gave up trying and just got up.  At about 9:30, I was finally able to take a nap, and while I would have liked to have slept much longer than 2 hours, I didn't want to throw my schedule off any further.  I pray I get some sleep tonight...this is killing me.  I think it's mostly the bladder infection and the restless leg.  I'm waiting to hear from my doctor about the results of yesterdays urinalysis and, strange as it may sound, hoping the infection is still there.  Because if it's not, I'm in real trouble...at night, I need to pee CONSTANTLY.  As for the restless leg, I've had that since before I was pregnant, but it's gotten worse.  My legs just twitch and jitter all night.  An online friend recommended this special lotion that I'm going to give a try, but boy do I hope it works because it is EXPENSIVE.  If it does, though, I'd be more than willing to pay triple that. :)
Well, that's the update for today.  Tony is visiting for the weekend before heading to Miami for his internship, and Nate leaves tomorrow for his education reporters seminar in New York.  At least they'll get to see each other for a few hours!

A Burst of Energy :)
Well, either my bladder infection is finally getting better or the exhaustion has just finally worn me down, but I've slept well 3 nights in a row now.  It's been wonderful.  In fact yesterday, I woke up at 7:30 (extraordinarily early for me!) of my own volition and just found myself with a ton of energy. I think yesterday is the most productive day I've had since I got pregnant.  I even curled my hair yesterday, something I usually only do for special occasions!  But I also decided to get started on the idea I had of trying to finish my Christmas shopping before the baby is born (somehow I doubt I'll be up to a lot shopping with a 2 week old!) and I hit some stores.  Well, I got lucky and stumbled onto some great deals, and I can now say that I'm about 75% done with my Christmas shopping!  It feels so good to know that I got all that done.
But that's not all.  One of the stores I stopped at is a crafty type store and as I was checking out, I noticed they had a huge rubber stamp collection.  That got me thinking about how long it's been since I stamped anything and how much fun it would be to handmake some thank you notes.  I can't possibly make enough to use for all my thank yous, but I spent about 2 hours yesterday making 10 beautiful notecards.  It really was fun.  I'd forgotten how cathartic getting wrapped up in a project can be.  The world just sort of falls away.
So I'm just feeling really good about everything today.  I'm sleeping again, I don't have to pee so much, I got tons of Christmas shopping done, I have some beautiful little thank you notes I'm so proud of, and to top everything off, the baby is getting really active.  It's so much fun to feel it moving inside me!  It still only weighs about a pound, so the kicks are never really painful...in fact, sometimes they kind of tickle. :)  I just feel on top of the world today!
I had a good time with Tony, too.  As much as I'm sure he and Nate are sorry they mostly  missed each other, it was nice for me not to have to be at home alone in the house.  Last night, Tony, Liz, and I all went to this bar downtown that I had never heard of for AWESOME hamburgers.  That was a lot of fun.
All in all, it was a
great weekend!

Funny Dreams
I had the most vivid and realistic dream last night!  I dreamt that I had an ultrasound and the doctor told me it was a BOY.  I've heard a lot of women say their dreams were right on, but the problem is, I've only had one other really vivid and realistic dream, and in that one, the baby was a GIRL.  So I don't know what to think.  Admittedly, I had one other dream that really had nothing to do with the baby, but I referred to him as "my infant son" to someone, so I guess the scales are tipped slightly in favor of having a boy right now.  Who knows?  The funniest thing, though, is that after my dream, I woke up for one of my many pee breaks and was thinking about how vivid that dream had been.  Then I went back to sleep and woke up a couple of hours later for another pee break, only to realize I'd just had ANOTHER vivid dream where I told my mom about the first dream!  Too funny. :)
The only other interesting thing I have to note today is that I think I'm about to have a growth spurt.  I've been having the WORST ligament pains this morning, the sharp stabby kind.  They've been going on for 3 or 4 hours now, and they seriously hit about every 30 seconds.  No fun!  But maybe I'll start looking really pregnant soon. :)
On a totally unrelated note, we're finally getting some rain here!  Yay!  I can't remember the last time it rained...with the exception of a few meticulous waterers, lawns around here are looking very brown and nasty.  We really need this rain.  I just hope it doesn't start and then go away right away.  We need a good drencher!
