The Joys of Pregnancy :)
home
Well, it's been a few days, but not much exciting has been happening.  I still think from time to time that maybe I'm feeling the baby move, but it's still so indistinct that I won't say for certain that I have.  I'm still suffering from a lot of round ligament pain, too.  I take Tylenol for it when it gets really bad and I bought a maternity support belt that helps some, but by the end of the day, I'm still in quite a bit of pain.  It's actually difficult to change into my pajamas because they are two pieces and it hurts for me to raise my legs to step into the bottom part.  For some reason, sleeping really seems to help, though, so mornings are always very nice. :)
I had a bit of a scary experience yesterday.  I was at the grocery store and I ran through the aisles really fast, and it was kind of crowded and warm, and I hadn't eaten yet (although I'd been up less than 2 hours) and by the time I got to the checkout lane, I actually came quite close to vomiting and/or passing out.  I was pretty sure it was just the warmth and the lack of food that caused it, but I called my doctor today just to make sure it was nothing to worry about it.  The nurse told me it sounded just like I had low blood sugar and that from now on I should be extra careful to try to eat something every couple of hours, preferably a little protein and a little carbohydrate, to keep that from happening again.  She said it is quite common in pregnancy and not to worry about it unless I actually pass out.
Well, our big project for the weekend was
finally sorting through all of our Ireland pictures (nearly 11 whole rolls!) and deciding which ones to keep and what to do with them.  We want to put some up online, so we had to go through the remainder and pick out the very best.  In the end, that was still around 90 pictures!  I spent several hours yesterday scanning them and then Nate uploaded all of them this morning.  Now I just need to create the pages themselves and you will all finally be able to see our Ireland pics!  (Although don't get your hopes up - that's still probably a week or two away at this point.)  It's only 5 months after we got back. :)  I hope I do better at keeping on top of baby pictures!!
Speaking of pictures, we got a new digital camera on Friday.  We found a great deal on a really cool refurbished camera online and it finally arrived Friday.  It has this very cool feature where you can put Polaroid film into it and actually print out small copies of your pictures instantly.  (It's not full-size Polaroid film, so they are only about 2" x 3".)  We played around with it a bit, and even took a new sample belly pic of me last night.  It's going nowhere but the trash can because I looked awful in it (we'll take another belly pic for public consumption in a couple of weeks), but even with my big natural belly, I am beginning to show a bit.  We compared the picture to my 6 week picture (the 12 week one still isn't developed - another reason we decided to go digital!) and you can definitely see that my stomach has gotten a bit bigger and I'm standing with my back more arched.  I don't imagine a stranger would pick me out as pregnant yet, but you can definitely see it when you compare pictures.
Well, the only other exciting news I've got is that my very generous, wonderful parents offered to buy us the dresser we want for the baby.  Nate and I are so thrilled!!  I don't believe Mom has had a chance to pick it up just yet, but it's Babies R Us's brand so they have it in stock most of the time.  Hopefully sometime in the not too distant future we'll be able to tool into Chicago and pick it up from them.  We're so excited that soon we're going to have a place to put our growing collection of clothes, sheets, etc.!
Thanks again, Mom and Dad!
Sheesh, look what happens when I don't write for a few days...I end up writing a novel!

Lots of Cute Baby Clothes
OK, I'll make this quick because I've got a raging headache right now from fighting with my computer for the last 90 minutes!
Our local Kids R Us is going out of business, so Nate and I dropped by tonight to check out the sales.  It turned out the discounts aren't too deep yet - it's still got another 6 weeks or so until it closes - and most of the clothes are really gender specific, so we didn't think we would get much.  But then we saw a regular old clearance rack that was filled largely with holiday clothes that were totally gender neutral.  So we sifted through it and found lots of great deals.  In the end, we got
EIGHT outfits for only $28.  I figured out that if we had paid full price for everything, it would have been $110!  Bargain shopping can be so thrilling. :)
Anyway, I was so excited by all of our finds, that when we got home, I decided to use our new digital camera to snap some pictures of them, upload them, and add them to the website.  The snapping pictures part was easy, the rest was all downhill.  Everything that could go wrong did. :(  First we had trouble downloading the pictures at a decent size, and once we got that figured out, then I had trouble getting them on the website.  Geocities was doing lots of funny things tonight, and perfectionist that I am, I couldn't just leave it be...I had to fix them!  It took forever, but as you can tell by
clicking here, I finally got it all worked out.  Please view them and make all the hard work worth my while!! :)

Ligament Pain Getting a Little Better
Well, the ligament pain I had on Tuesday night was so intense that I decided to call my doctor about it yesterday morning.  There's not a whole lot you can do, but she did write me a prescription for this very elaborate maternity cradle.  It's actually by the same company that makes the mini one I bought last week.  This contraption is not very comfortable at all - the material is very scratchy and fairly rigid - but, especially when I pair it with the mini one, it does really seem to be helping.  I'm still having ligament pain, but it's not nearly as bad as it had been.  So hopefully this will pass soon all on its own and the belts can get me through the interim!
We go crib shopping tomorrow!  I'm very excited.  There is a Childcraft outlet about 50 miles south of where Tara lives, so we are going to head down there and hopefully buy a crib, then spend Friday night and Saturday day with her.  And since Mom and Dad are buying us the dresser, which includes a changing table, and we already have a recliner for the room, that means in a couple weeks, we should have all of our furniture for the room!  In a way, I'm actually more excited about the dresser than the crib, because it means we can put away all the cute clothes we have been getting little-by-little lately, as well as the crib sheets we got a great deal on last week.  I'm also really looking forward to decorating the nursery once we get the furniture in it.  I'm already on constant alert for anything that might fit our farm animal theme (I think we've pretty much decided for sure on Prickly Pear and Friends for our decor) although I haven't bought anything yet.
I love doing all this little stuff because November still seems so far away sometimes.  It helps me to while away the time with all these little projects.  Now I just need to stay on top of my school work for the summer, too.  It's just difficult because baby stuff is so much more fun and exciting. :)
