The Potez XXV reconnaissance / light bomber entered production in 1928, although the start was not without problems ( one bizarre term of the contract stated that the aircraft had to be made out of Canadian lumber ), so that it was early 1929 when the first aircraft was delivered to the Romanian Royal Air Force. After this, things went more smoothly, and several more orders were placed after the initial 43 demanded. Production continued until 1934, when the last Potez XXV left the factory. Altogether, 250 of these planes were manufactured, and they were kept in service right until the beginning of WW2.
The aircraft was a two-seat biplane , constructed from lumber and fabric. It was powered by a Lorraine-Dietrich 12 cylinder, air - cooled, rotary engine mounted in the nose. The light bomber version ,designated as Potez XXV-14 could carry up to 200 kg of bombs suspended underneath the wings.
