THE TURAGA
The Turaga are protectors of the Toa's legends and leaders of their villages. They also must collect masks, called the Noble Masks, which are important in saving Mata Nui. The Toa and Turaga can both wear the Noble Masks. In each village there is a Tohunga, who join the Toa in their missions.
VAKAMA OF TA-KORO and JALA
 
| Vakama is the protector of Tahu's legend, and is the leader of the village of Ta-Koro. He wears the Huna, the Noble Mask of Concealment, which allows the user to turn invisible. Jala, a villager of Ta-Koro, is a tough and smart leader of the village Guard. |

NUJU OF KO-KORO and MATORO
 
| Nuju is the protector of Kopaka's legend, and is the leader of the village of Ko-Koro. He wears the Matatu, the Noble Mask of Telekinesis, which allows the user to move objects and project force by thought. Matoro, a villager of Ko-Koro, enjoys climbing steep mountains, sliding down icy slopes, and throwing his disks. |

WHENUA OF ONU-KORO AND ONEPU

Whenua is the protector of Onua's legend, and is the leader of the village of Onu-Koro. He wears the Ruru, the Noble Mask of Night Vision, which allows the user to see in any level of darkness. Matoro, a villager of Onu-Koro, is very strong and can lift many times his weight. |

MATAU OF LE-KORO and KONGU
 
| Matau is the protector of Lewa's legend, and is the leader of the village of Le-Koro. He wears the Mahiki, the Noble Mask of Illusion, which allows the user to create illusions to deceive an opponent or escape detection. Kongu, a villager of Le-Koro, can move very fast and is one of the smartest of the villagers. |

| Nokama is the protector of Gali's legend, and is the leader of the village of Ga-Koro. She wears the Rau, the Noble Mask of Translation, which allows the user to read the ancient languages, runes, and symbols. Maku, a villager of Ga-Koro, is an excellent swimmer. |

ONEWA OF PO-KORO and HUKI
| Onewa is the protector of Pohatu's legend, and is the leader of the village of Po-Koro. He wears the Komau, the Noble Mask of Mind Control, which allows the user to command others to do the user's bidding. Huki, a villager of Po-Koro, wants to learn all he can from Pohatu. |
