The story of Bionicle begins with the legend of Mata Nui. Mata Nui, an island, was once a peaceful place where the villages and worked together. But when the evil Makuta arrived, Mata Nui was threatened with disaster and darkness. The frightened Tohunga (villagers) and Turaga (village leaders) waited for a sign of hope that would save them from Makuta.
Their hopes were finally answered when the six mighty heroes, the Toa, came upon Mata Nui. Their mission was to collect all of the Kanohi Masks of Power, which would give them strength for their final battle against Makuta. But the quest would not be easy, for Makuta had power greater than all of theirs combined. Can the Toa save Mata Nui from total destruction? Join their journey and find out! The Toa have defeated Makuta and his Rahi, but there is a bigger threat on Mata Nui: the Bohrok. They have leech-like krana that control their mind and will not rest until they destroy Mata Nui.
