To support Computer Aided Design Drafting (CADD) for Randolph AFB we
installed one Dell 6300 Enterprise Server with 1 GB of SDRAM, 50 GB or disk
space, RAID 5 configuration, hot swappable drives, with
Microsoft NT Server version 4. The
CADD server is setup as an application, print and file server that supports
network versions of Utilizing ALM technology I save my organization $25,000 dollars annually in AutoCAD software upgrades. Autodesk releases to market a new versions on a 9-12 month cycle. ALM virtual licensing is the key to maintaining and operating with one of the best CAD providers on the market. ALM technology is similar to Microsoft's Terminal Server. Standardizing AutoCAD applications across the LAN for clients has greatly reduced the organizations total cost of ownership. Stand-alone applications are extremely expensive to maintain and keep updated. Network licensing enables me to configure every client with AutoCAD. ALM management tools empower me to track usage and run a wide variety of reports, provide metrics to management and maintenance options. Data when properly disseminated will enable me to justify the purchase of additional licenses or to even reduce licenses. Network applications of Autodesk enable me to load software upgrades,
user/system configuration which users will immediately receive upon their next
login. One central point for software installations and upgrades letting the
Server and client do the work. Efficiency.
CADD Server supports all of Randolph AFB's digitized ASBUILT drawings. Over
40,000 thousand flat files are stored and configured for easy access through the
LAN. In the coming months facility drawings will be stored on a Microsoft IIS
server giving greater access to facility drawings for the base populous through
internet browsers. DC CADD is a local and authorized distributor of AutoDesk & Softdesk products. |
