| What is YAOI? |
| Okay, let me first start off by saying I am a normal heterosexual male. Now let's get started... YAOI is an acronym for: YAma-nashi, Ochi-nashi, Imi-nashi. This implies about sexual and intimate scenes with male characters (homosexuality). There is a lot of talk about YAOI between Duo and Heero; and Quatre and Trowa (poor Wufei is left out. I guess he is still grieving about the loss of his dead wife. -_-;;). Of coarse, we don't see any sexual scenes between them, but hints are given off, and some people assume they are homosexual. "HOLD ON THERE!" some of you might say. There is no evidence "confirming" that they are homosexual. No one admits it... it is just assumed. Feel free to e-mail me, but I can't think of anything from the top of my head. Some of you might also feel uncomfortable with this YAOI thing. Whether it is new to you, or you simply dislike it. People even say Heero is with Relena, not Duo; Duo is with Hildre, not Heero; Trowa is with Catherine (that's nasty if they are goin' out though... rumour has it they are brother and sister... that's incest!), not Quatre; and Quatre has... um... he... a... he has his... Maguanac Corp? And last, but not lease, Wufei might not be with Treize, but with.... um...... his Gundam... or his dead wife? There is no "sure" thing about who is with who. So what's with YAOI and Gundam Wing? You can ask me that question over and over and over and over... but I still can't be sure of the answer. I have been pondering that question for the past year now. The only thing I could think of is... (drum roll please) TO GET MORE VIEWERS. Think about it for a second. Gundam Wing is an anime that consists of mostly mecha, action, more mecha, debating on war and peace, and more mecha. This will attract a certain amount of viewers. To get more people interested in Gundam Wing, they would have to adopt something that would interest the other viewers. They added the essence of intimate relations between people. To kick it up a notch, they added a bit of YAOI. Every anime series has its secrets that no one will ever know about, maybe YAOI is the unsolved mystery of Gundam Wing. Remember... this is all MY personal opinion on the subject. Conclusion: I am nothing more than a webmaster of this site, and one of hundreds of millions of Gundam Wing fans. I'm not telling you what to believe on this issue. I just hope I have broadened your horizons, and have given you more insight on the topic. |
