Tips for travel in Göreme and Cappadocia

The staff here at Göreme Restaurant know that travel can sometimes be expensive.  So to keep costs down and still show you the best the town has to offer, the manager offers these suggestions:

•    Plan to spend 4 days in Cappadocia, if not more

•    The accommodation/nformation centre by the bus station is very helpful, and unbiased, about accommodation and sightseeing.  They can organise bookings and pickups on site.  

•    There are many cheaper and more interesting ways to see the area than the organised day-long tours.  Try the public bus service, renting a scooter or going on a horse trek.  

•    Many of the most beautiful valleys are accessible on foot from Göreme.  Try Zemi (Love) Valley, Kiliçlar (Swords) Valley, Kızıl (Red) Valley and Güllüdere (Rose) Valley.

•    Discover abandoned churches in the valleys, or marvel at the stunning frescoes at the Göreme Open Air Museum.

•    Experience the novelty of breaking pottery and the fantastic taste of the Desti Kebap.
