Tip of the Week 13

In the last of this series about various ways of 'asking' we shall be dealing with the phrase 'ask for someone' or 'ask after someone' in the sense of asking how somebody is keeping.

The basic phrase is:

Gabh a naidheachd Ask after /for him /her

Innis dha gu bheil mi a' gabhail a naidheachd
Tell him that I'm asking for him.

Innis dhaibh gu bheil mi a' gabhail an naidheachd.
Tell them that I'm asking for them.

Bha Calum a' gabhail do naidheachd
Calum was asking for you.
