Tip of the Week 10
Unfortunately, my new computer crashed at the weekend sending a number of smaller files (including ideas for future 'Tips of the week') irrecoverably into infinity. The good news is that my major files were backed up.
As a stop-gap, until I can reconstruct what I had intended to do, I will deal with asking [someone] a question/riddle.
The basic construction is:
cuir ceist air [cuideigin] = put a question on [someone] = ask [someone] a question.
e.g.
Chuir iad mòran cheistean orm.
They asked me many questions.
Bu toigh leam beagan cheistean a chur ort.
I would like to ask you a few questions.
Bhiodh iad a' cur tòimhseachain air a chèile.
They would ask each other riddles.
Tha mi ag iarraidh beagan cheistean a chur oirbh mu na thachair.
I want to ask you a few questions about what happened.
