Edgar was a talented horticulturalist. Their home boasted a beautifully landscaped woods that was visited often by the Horticulture Societies of Milwaukee and Racine County.
When I was a young girl, my sisters, older brother and neighbor girls used to visit Edgar's woods and goldfish pond often. The winding rock paths led us past "exotic" flowers that we didn't have back in our wild woods. My favorite flowers were the "Lady Slippers".
We also always visited Edgar & Irene for trick-or-treating. We knew we could always count on a box of Cracker Jack every year in their treat bags. Edgar & Irene had no children, but they are fondly remembered by the children who grew up in and around our neighborhood.
