This is only due to the fact that a specific year does not ever seem to have been established and it is simply easier to determine age in comparison to the central character. This house was founded by Salazar Slytherin of fen and accepts students who are nearly always of pure-blood wizarding families who show great ambition. Slytherin house has earned a reputation for turning out more Dark Wizards than any other. The School colors for this house are Green and Silver and its house animal is the Serpent. The head of Slytherin house during the books is Severus Snape.
