This old town is proud of its heritage. Hoi An puts in significant effort in conserving its buildings and that draws top tourist dollars. It is also well known for its tailors who produce suits and gowns at a very low prices.

WEATHER  It was very hot there.

GETTING THERE : From Nha Trang, this was one of the longest legs of my journey by bus. The ride lasted 10 hours.  

If you are flying to central Vietnam from Singapore, Silkair flights arrive at Danang. Hoi An, Bach Ma National Park and Hue are just a short distance from Danang.

ACCOMMODATION : There are many guesthouses around just as tourists are aplenty there. The guesthouse that I stayed in there was the worst for my entire trip – I had welts all over after being bitten by bedbugs. Do choose your accommodation carefully there.

BIRDING HIGHLIGHTS : The few  birds that were seen were all caged. Even in the parks and heritage tomb areas, there were surprisingly few birds.
