ARCHIVED INFORMATION of all old reports of churches as old as the year 2000.

All these reports below have little relevance.

The only purpose is to see what these first drafts looked like before they were edited. When I began in 2000, I could fit all the churches on 2 Notepad files which is 7,000 words. By the time I finished the web site early 2003 there were not 2 Notepad files but seventy. Which grew to over 60,000 words that I had personally typed.

Class: Middle 5. Kids: 0 6. Ages: 60+ 7. Men: 50% 8. Offering: Anglicans universally do poorly in all offerings. 9. Late arrivals: 0 10. Interesting info: Service consisted of tired, archaic, antiquated, time-lapsed, incredibly monotonous chanting prayers back and forth, extraordinarily dull & completely lifeless hymns. No preaching. Nice organ and Pastor. Although the minister seemed neither humble or happy. I hit my head 5 times on the seat in front of me out of pure frustration. The little boy in me managed to carve his initials into a pew with his fingernail. I wanted to drop my little book over the seat and go for a dive, like Mr. Bean. 11. Time spent: 6.45pm-7.45pm 12. When service finished. 7.40pm (The longest 40 mins of my life.) 13. This & other service times: 7pm 1st Sund of month only. 7am, 9.30am, 5.30pm. 14. Preacher: Rev’d Richard Tutin (Rector) 15. Feeling: Quote from my diary- “This is the worst service I have ever experienced in the entire Toowoomba district, possibly in my life. I hated it.” 16. Their belief: This is what they typically mean as being “High Anglican.” That religious culture and symbolism is satisfactory.

x 6.30AM. ST THOMAS at Jellicoe and Anne St. 1. 19 people. 2. 22 pews x 5 seats = 110. (But I would have estimated it at 35% so my estimates of percentages filled are too complimentary.) 3. Fuddy duddys. 4. Local pensioners. 5. 0. 6. All old. 7. 8 men. 8. Not given. 9. -. 10. A good example of why there should not be allowed a church like this in the future. It’s a poor little church building that costs a lot to run for so few people. Combine them all but the 2 most historical churches and have at least one decent church. The Anglicans have a very strong history of building as close as possible to any Catholic church and such again this is the case except the Catholic church moved 3 years ago and so should they. 11. 2 mins. 28/5/00 12. ? 13. 10am. 6.30am. 14. ? 15. xAIMISH EXIST IN TOOWOOMBA!! Bruce Vandersee’s sister in law Robin saw this wife with full black clothing and without buttons with clothing covering almost all of the body. The children were dressed similarly. Robin talked to her as she used to live in America and recognised the clothing. She got invited to their farm south of Toowoomba and they had a car, electricity, but few mod cons at all. The husband talked incessantly about his religion and how they came out of the Anglican church some years ago due to scriptural reasons. An American Armish bishop came to their house in May 2000. He works in endeavour supervising mentally challenged people.

ASSEMBLY OF GOD SPRING ST 9.30am 1. # of people: 500 (Special Speaker Tim Hall 10/9/00) 2. Empty chairs: Approx 70% full. 3. Many Asians from University. 5. Kids: 61 kids in Sunday School (439 people in church) 6. Ages: Family 7. Men: No longer is there a higher ratio of women especially in Charismatic/ Pentecostal including Evangelical churches. Only in mostly Lutheran churches are there single women mainly as the Anglicans couldn’t be bothered going to church and unmarried women generally don’t even go the Catholic church anymore. In AOG there can often be 60% men. 8. Offering: Garden City AOG do $20,000 per week. 9. Late arrivals: Few. 10. Interesting info: AOG lead the way for all churches musically. TCC lead the way politically , Uniting lead the caring arm, Baptists lead the way as missionaries, AOG lead the way in Entertainment and Music. 11. Date & Time spent: 10/9/00 10.30-12.00 12. attention to the sermon, church to them is a form of tradition that one “does” in the same way you go to work, you hate it but you do it. (Sad but true.) 4. Working to middle class. 5. Everywhere. 6. Some older. 7. 60% men. 8. Weekly year average $2,807. 14/5/00

x
GARDEN CITY INDEPENDENT BAPTISTS (A general rule of thumb with many religions is that there are 2 sides to the split, 80% become less strict, 20% become more strict so in Australia you have the Baptist Union which are the majority and the Baptist Independents which are the minority.) Address: 1. # of people: 20 at Adult Sunday School 9.30am. (15 people stayed) 23 people at 10.30am service. 2. Empty chairs: 40 3. Type of person: Parisioners told me “I was a farmer, now I’m a bobcat truck carrier.” “I’m a Traffic Router.” “I’m a knife hand.” “I’m a supervisor at KR Bacon.” “I make wood products.” Like Bretheren this religion consist of ones who are strangely and predominantly workers of their hands in often a business situation. (For further research purposes, see Dr John Holland’s theory of careers.) Blue collar workers seem to be attracted to this type of religion.
4. Class: Working. 5. Kids: Many. (8) 6. Ages: 1-18 7. Men: 50% 8. Offering: Not given. Pastor said “There is no wage coming out of the offering.” 9. Late arrivals: (Case in point as all these churches have big trouble keeping their numbers.) Song Leader was 5 mins late, 5p arrived 5 mins late, 4p arrived 13 mins late. (Cure is NOT to demand people to come early as it’s ONLY a symptom. Answer is for Pastor to become more caring and gentle and less forthright -no giving in though.) 10. Interesting info: Pastor said these rather amazing words “This is a soul winning church. We go out 1.5 hrs Sat mornings. I was in a (sister) Brisbane church 11 years.. In 2-3 years my plan is to have a church of 3-400. We rent this now. We’re only 9 weeks old and look how many we have already. I’ve been naturalized a year ago having been a successful (United States) business man prior to salvation. I was only saved 12 months and God said “Go to Australia.” For less than $100,000 we can get a brand new church 17m x 35m. This building costs $175,000 -has no parking. In Brisbane the minimum church building costs $210,000 but we believed God and got one for $77,000 for our 25-35 people. We’re a mission minded church! .. I heard a Yank in a (sister church) but (God fore-saken church) say “Going to another church is spiritual adultery!” I don’t agree. But I told my church in Brisbane “This is a dead church!” .. I was in a garage and I heard a man using God’s name in vein & I said to him “Excuse me sir but I would appreciate you not saying my God’s name in vein cause I’m a born again Christian.” Man said “So was I!”
11. Date & Time spent: Oct 1 2000 9am-12.32pm 12. When service finished. 11.50am 13. This & other service times: 9.30am 6pm Sun. Wedn 7pm. 14. Preacher: Ps Bartlett 15. Feeling: I felt ill at ease due to blanket statements as Pastor was extremely confrontational to believers which is a spiritual problem in the whole denomination. 16. Their belief: Born again, non- Calvinists, fully immersed baptised, non-Pentecostal. Almost every Pastor in Qld is American! (Ps Rod Marsh in Redcliffe is Qld leader and has bible college is there with all American tutors in dark blue 3pce suits. They tell girls to go home and change at youth group if they wear jeans.)
