ARCHIVE-Old services in current churches.

All of these churches changed their services out of GROWTH.

These reports are important for researches. For example, here one can see how many people were going to AOG before they dived their church to 2 services.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

THE BELOW REPORT WAS FROM 10 SEPTEMBER 2000.

ASSEMBLY OF GOD SPRING ST 9.30am
***1. # of people: 400p normally. 2. Chairs available: 936. 3. Type of person: Probably due to management of other charismatic churches there are many ex-C.O.C and T.C.C. people. 4. Socio- Economic Status: Middle class, almost no working class. Many Asians from University. 5. Kids: Some 60 children in Sunday School (In one study there were another 439 people in church.) 6. Ages: Family.
***7. Men: No longer is there a higher ratio of women especially in Charismatic/ Pentecostal including Evangelical churches. In AOG there can often be 60% men. After doing this large research study I would conclude that it is a complete misconception across the board of all churches that there are a distinct majority of women in churches generally speaking.
**8. Offering: -. Garden City Brisbane AOG report $20,000 per week. 9. Late arrivals: Few.
***10. Interesting info: AOG lead the way for all churches musically. TCC lead the way politically, Uniting lead the caring arm, Baptists lead the way as missionaries, AOG lead the way in Entertainment and Music. 11. Date & Time spent: 10/9/00 10.30-12.00. 12. When service finished. About 11.30am 13. This & other service times: 9.30am & 6pm 14. Preacher: Senior Pastor Fred Evans. 15. Feeling: Highly positive. ***16. Their belief: Original Leaders in the Charismatic/ Pentecostal movement. You will almost never hear tongues or even a loud over bearing prophecy in ALL Pentecostal churches these days, this change began in the early 1990's. 17. Dress code so as not to stand out: Casual to smart. 18. How to get there: Travel south towards K-Mart along Ruthven St, turn left into Spring St, travel 30 metres, turn into property, go 10 metres up driveway turn right for parking.

6pm ASSEMBLY OF GOD SPRING ST 1. # of people: 150p. 2. Chairs available: 936. 3. Type of person: -. 4. Socio- Economic Status: Medium. 5. Kids: 20 kids. 6. Ages: Aged 15-50yo. 7. Men: 50%. 8. Offering: -. 9. Late arrivals: Few.
*10. Interesting info: The very first time I went to this AOG church was 21 years ago, when the church consisted of about 40 people in the tiny Neil St church. 11. Date & Time spent: 7/01 5.45pm-8.30pm Have been to this church some 100 times. 12. When service finished. About 7.45pm. 13. This & other service times: 6pm; 9.30am 14. Preacher: Senior Pastor Fred Evans 15. Feeling: Good. 16. Their belief: Charismatic/ Pentecostal. 17. Dress code so as not to stand out: Casual to smart. 18. How to get there: Travel south towards K-Mart along Ruthven St, turn left into Spring St, travel 30 metres, turn into property, go 10 metres up driveway turn right for parking.

THIS CHURCH ORIGINALLY MET IN ONE GROUP AT MOFFATT ST. THE CHURCH WAS PUT INTO 3 SEPERATE GROUPS AND BUILDINGS IN JUNE 2003.

9.30am. NEW HOPE ASSEMBLEY OF GOD (Administration is in Moffatt St.) (Formerly "Victory AOG")

1. Number of people: 373.
2. Number of chairs: 545.
3. Type of person: Confident in the faith types.
4. Socio-Economic Status: Medium. Not low.
5. Amount of kids: At least 82 aged 0 -17yo.
6. Ages of people: About 20 were 60+. 19-30yo's were minimally 66+. Mostly young families and youth.
***7. Percentage of men in church: For those interested in research I came across this remarkable find or anomaly. Generally, I have found that across the board of most churches the percentage of men in church are down to about 37%. However, I had found this. That from the age group of 19 to 30 year old's there were exactly 50% each of women and men. (30 in total.) They were singles as well. *As expected, in this church, out of the older age group, once again, 37% were OLDER men (aged 30+). So, out of one small sample group of 41 adults there were 26 women 15 men.
8. Weekly offering published: -.
9. Lateness of people getting to church: -.
**10. This church was known as Victory until March 2001. Any other interesting information: Ps Chris Mulhare was a Pastor at New Hope AOG Crows Nest Qld, a church planted by New Hope Toowoomba, he then became Senior Pastor at Toowoomba New Hope AOG, as former Senior Pastor Rod Plummer went to Tokyo as a contingent of 100 people to plant the first Australian AOG church in Tokyo, Japan.
**Note: Pastors collect names and addresses from all visitors and if your visiting from another church they will ask you to not visit. If you visit 3 times you pretty well automatically become a member or get put on the books as such. The count of these reported by them are 800 in 1999 and 1000 in 2001. Each Assemblies of God is completely independently owned and operated however recently New Hope and others operate a network of sister churches as there are Crows Nest and Warwick New Hope churches.

11. Time there AND date of visit: 9.30am- 11.30am (160 people 6/99-10/99.)
12. Length of service: 1hr 50m.
13. This and other service times: 9.30am. 6pm.
14. Preacher: Snr Ps Chris Mulhare.
***15. Feeling of building: Warm, friendly, energetic, like ANY large church you do not even get spoken to UNTIL you attend one of their many home groups.
16. Estimate style of belief: AOG led the charge of the Pentecostal/ Charismatic movement church in the world which means. You do not have to speak in tongues in order to be saved but like almost every Charismatic church, it's warmly encouraged and never pushed.
17. Dress code so as not to stand out: Smart Casual to light formal.
18. How to get there:
23. HOW MUCH CHURCH IS OPEN TO WIDER CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY: They discourage their members from going to other churches and inter- related church activities.

THIS CHURCH SOLD THEIR BUILDING AND MOVED TO TEMPORARY ACCOMODATION HERE.

(9.35am 8; 9.37 6; 9.39 5; 9.40 4; 9.42 8; 9.43 8; 9.47 7; 9.48 8; 9.50 6; 9.52 8.)
~10. Any other interesting information: On the 30/6/01 most of the office wood framing had gone up on the recently purchased land at South and Greenwattle (South West corner). Their old building which included 3 houses, near West and Bridge Sts had 3 estimates from valuers done and they got the highest valuer price. They shifted from there early 2001. An unknown millionaire man in Highfields bought it which turned out to be planters of a Buddhist Temple which the church now is. In the rear hall is a 60 cm stone Buddha. 11. Time there AND date of visit: 1 July 2001 9am-11.45am (Been 30 times over 15 years.) 12. Length of service: Allow 1.5 hours plus cup of tea. 13. This and other service times: 9.30am; 5pm. 14. ~16. Estimate style of belief: Not necessarily a Charismatic church but they work with Christian Leaders Network very closely, have Hillsong worship, are open to Charismatics fellowshipping there of which there are a number. You could describe then as soft core Calvanists which really means they believe in "once saved always saved" doctrine.
17. Dress code so as not to stand out: Casual to smart. 18. Travel up or east towards range along Cambell St, go to the end and turn left into Wirra Wirra St. Parking is available on the grounds.

5pm WEST TOOWOOMBA PRESBYTERIAN Fairholme School Wirra Wirra St West & near Bridge.
1. Number of people: 76. 2. Number of chairs: 90. (There are 1268 chairs capably of being fitted out into this building and the Pastor only put out chairs as they were needed which compacted everyone up which gave the church a really "together" feeling as opposed to having people sit part. (AOG Spring do this by way of black curtain dividers which doesn't work too well, AOG New Hope add the last 3 rows of chairs at the last minute which works well. Church of Christ (then Margaret St) would rope off sections then open them up and use ushers to squash people in, which works very well. All these ideas are excellent church management.) 3. Type of person: Many Singles. 4. Socio-Economic Status: Middle. 5. Amount of kids: Very few under aged fifteen. 6. Ages of people: Mostly 16-40 singles, also marrieds 40yo-60yo. 7. 50% are men. 8. Weekly offering published: $3635. Building fund: $2345. Mission $315. 9. Lateness of people getting to church: 4 at 5.10pm; 8 5.08; 4 5.04; 2 5.15; 4 at 5.22pm. 10. Any other interesting information: They got $25,000 more than what they expected to get from their old building. Also, Church completion date last week Sat Oct 2001. 11. Time there AND date of visit: 20/8/01 4.50pm-7.45pm. 12. Length of service: 1hour 10mins but there was a tea after the service. 13. This and other service times: 5pm, 9.30am. 14. Preacher: Roland Sondergeld. 15. Feeling of building: Good. 16. Estimate style of belief: Sometimes night services are a bit more Charismatic in evangelical churches but this is not the case. 17. Dress code so as not to stand out: Casual to smart. 18. How to get there: Travel up or east towards range along Cambell St, go to the end and turn left into Wirra Wirra St.

They also hold a combined church service at the Empire Theatre 4 times a year. They bought George Otis from the "Transformations" video to Toowoomba and this was successful due to the working together of ministers for revival. Pastors are known to mow each others lawn as a sign of humility. Pastors get invited to preach in other churches as well. Ps Colin travels the world widely promoting church unity. The church rented out the old Stephens and West St premises to West AOG as if it's sold they will not get any money then. However, time and again these ex-Uniting buildings always do indeed get sold, in about 4 to 6 years.
