| More pictures from the Empire State including one of the many pictures I took looking straight down. Notice the picture of downtown Manhattan, now without the twin towers. One of the strangest things we came across was people who'd been to see Ground Zero and bought the T-shirt. I know the proceeds go to the New York Fire Department and I know going to see the site of an atrocity is a way of paying respect for many people, but we deliberately didn't go to see it as it would have felt voyeuristic, and I found the T-shirts a tad distasteful. After all, you wouldn't buy Auschwitz or Treblinka T-shirts would you? In the other photo you can just make out Macy's - the world's largest department store. |
